Ducati Monster Crash (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HjZ7TJaDGL4#normal)
This one is even better. :D

None of these guys are MY buddies!
Kop, at least the guys in your vids were wearing helmets and probably jackets. The make the beast with two backsing ra-tard in the vid I put up was wearing a damn baseball cap and a sweatshirt!
The guy hitting the fence was pretty damn funny though! [laugh] [laugh]
that R6 got some distance! If that's what he was going for, [clap]

Isn't that the required squid uniform? ??? Like the thread says. [thumbsup]
First question: Do stunt riders have more money than they can possibly spend in their shortened existence here on earth? That said, the cost of buying/repairing a working bike these days is not cheap.
Second question: Do stunters think they are 10' tall and bullet proof?
5 Reasons stunting is good.
1. Jason Britton is laughing all the way to the bank.
2. In a down economy Japanese bike companies can stay afloat.
3. Obama needs stunters who are all in favor of and will help to try and get The Healthcare Bill passed.
4. There is some dude in a warehouse somewhere who is quietly collecting all the insurance claim bikes and dismantleing them to sell the parts in his retirement.
5. It's the new America's Funniest Home Videos catagory.
Squid is not synonymous with stunter.
What ever you want to call Jason Britten and people who invest time and effort learning how to ride a motorcycle in ways that many of us will never be able to is something that deserves respect. You can lump Chris Pfeiffer into that category too by the way.
Idiots (or make the beast with two backsing idiots as the thread title says) are not free style street motorcycle riders, they're just idiots. There's a time and place for it obviously but that doesn't mean that someone who can do a circle wheelie isn't displaying the same level of skill as someone who can get their knee down.
Try not to be so closed minded about this stuff people and try not to lump in people who are skilled and talented at something with idiots who obviously don't know what they're doing and aren't making wise choices.
Dan, sorry for my non-PC mode today buddy. [laugh] I'll try to not speak my mind as so not to offend anyone else........ NOT! ;D
I'm old school alright. I've been riding bikes for damn near 40 years. It takes skill to be a Spies. But skill to stunt?! Come on. Skillz schmillz. Stunting is just entertainment. Sure, some people think it's oh so impressive to see someone on the front wheel stopping in front of a cute chick. I know for a fact that monkey's can be trained to fart, walk backwards, twirl plates and do flips. But I'm not paying to see it. Say what you will and think what you want but all stunting is showing off in front others and hoping you have your ass in tact after your done. Our society must be way too fat and bored if we need to invent or bastardize our sports into something totally different all in the name of entertainment. Rant off. [roll] [thumbsup]
that's how skiers feel about snowboarders

That's what I think every time I see this kind of stuff. I'm sure its different for the guys in the Jason Britton category, they get paid to do it and they have sponsors. These other jag-off's doing it on neighborhood streets can't possibly afford to drop 13k every time they total their bike thinking they have the wheelie mastered.
I do agree with Steve though, it does take skill to be able to do most of those stunts. And there is a time and a place. But in any case, it's still fun to watch! [popcorn]

Your opinion and you're welcome to it. It's not about being PC, it's about showing respect where it's due. I think it's due. I doubt any of us can ride like a Jason Britten or Chris Pfeiffer. Even if we wanted to, it'd take a lot of time an effort to learn. You apparently think that time and effort is a waste and somehow diminishes "our sport". I disagree completely.
For the record, there are plenty of people around who do this, they have a stunt bike and they've dumped it plenty of times. Douchebags burning around on quiet streets is a totally different category.
I'm no stunter, I can't wheelie for shit but I have respect for people who can do this stuff safely and at the appropriate time.

Well put. True, within the realm of pushing the boundries into another catagory of the motorcycle experience I agree. It does take time to master and lots of effort to keep from dumping ones stunt bike. Just like having a track bike and spending time on it to master the craft of racing I totally get it and appreciate the stunters for what they do and for their creativity? I'm sure they all have at least 4 other street bikes (like most Ducatisti here...right...lol ! [laugh]) that they can ride normally on the street. Hey, if Orville and Wilbur hadn't wanted to fly with the gulls we wouldn't have airplanes. So on that point I agree with you.

I so totally agree with this statement. [thumbsup]
My point exactly for all my replies. [thumbsup]
Actually I'm a bit put off that no one has stunted a Vespa yet! ??? [roll] ;D
Maybe I'll start with my Scarebeo! Yeah! That's the ticket! ;D [thumbsup]

been done. just need to find pictures
Why do all the winners of MotoGp and Super Bike pull those long wheelies and do burnouts after they win a race ?
Do you suppose that's where these kids get the idea ?
Dolph
One good thing is I haven't seen too many of the riders get off the bike and climb the fences [laugh]
It's a form of natural selection IMO. ;D
i want to wheelie my monster. someone give me a spare monster to mess up. actually ill use my monster as th spare someone get me a m1100 or a street fighter. :)

Slight thread jack-
Not sure what part of the planet you are on, but here skiers and snowboards give each other the respect they deserve. It's only the old crusty people that can't get over themselves that won't drop the whole skier/snowboard bs. Talent is talent, no matter in what form it comes in. Now the people in these video are a whole other story.

yeah forgot to mention i'm 40 and been skiing since i was 10, before there were snowboards. and that's how we felt about them when they would scrape the top snow off going down the hill sideways, learning the new sport.
I know it's different today and most hills have a snowboard only run etc. and of course most skiers snowboard and vice versa. was just putting it into perspective.
and i have been skiing in Asia, western US, eastern US, and Europe, so all parts of the planet ;)

Kids....
Guess this topic is getting a bit tangential, but I'm a snowboarder who lives at Alta, Utah 5 months out of the year (there right now) and I catch a lot of flack being a boarder at a skiers' only resort but at the end of the day I know I can put down a better line than more than 90% of the skiers here. =)
I love all the urban legends about boarders and how strictly people adhere to those claims like we take more snow off the mountain than skiers. (HA!) Not even close...So back to the point, we do things differently either on the mountain or on bikes but the idea is all the same. You can't hate on anyone for what they love unless they're endangering other people. Stunting is not my thing but I can appreciate the fine-tuned skills required to master that art.

Alta is getting dumped on right now. If you work at Alta, fire up a lift and I'll meet ya there. I'm in the 10% you speak of. [cheeky]

I don't know this guy may be the bigger idiot doing a wheelie in front cop then falling off.... The on board camera shows the whole thing.

Which also lans this poor guy in the lack of common sense category...When all else fails LET GO OF THE BIKE!

Even more so because it was completely avoidable. Cold tires + lack of respect = crash.
you might be wrong about the vespa............there is some pretty serious scooter racing going on these days and that is stunting in my book!
BGB
This thread has me laughing so much I'm crying and trying not to wet the couch. Entertaining and cringe worthy!
The SF racer should have got the S model with traction control! Boy he was throttle greedy on that first corner. It wasn't a sharp corner by any means. He wasn't even cranked over! Yeah, cold tires, cold road and big power/torque 'll do it alright.
Makes you wanna put the tire warmers on for a cold morning ride!
[laugh] [laugh] [laugh] This one is funny too.....
Never ride, wearing short and no helmet.

Motor Scooter Vespa Somersault (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yxBgVdkxxEQ#lq-hq-vhq)
Some pretty aggressive Vespa riding!
I wouldn't mind learning some stunting, on a beater motorcycle. Not so that I can show off for chicks or try to draw attention to myself, but so that I can have that much better a sense of balance on my bike, so that I don't ever panic if I pull an accidental wheelie, so that I know better the limits of my front brake, etc. Riding with your ass on the handlebars wouldn't do much, but how can anybody argue that some stunting experience wouldn't improve your riding skills at least somewhat.
That Vespa reminds me of riding my wife's Hawk. I'm pretty good at scraping the mid-pipe bolt in right handers!
JM
if that vespa rider had my Szechuan chicken in the back of it... I'd be all pissed off. I like to eat my rice separate :P

hahahaha nice vids
I had some good laughs, made my Sunday morning, thanks!! On a serious side, controlled motorcycle "handling," is amazing to watch, it is a gift people have and we watch because we can only watch in awe. Until one has actually even tried racing a bike or doing anything close to it, one can sit behind a keyboard and judge. riding on the street is nothing compared to being on the track, the fastest douche bag on the street usually gets humbled on a track where they find the novice class outclasses his "street" riding! I'm just amazed at douche bags riding with no protection and....doing stupid things on roads!!!???!! Can you say bad name for all bikers? When I complain to people who don't ride about someone cutting me off or not giving me room, what I get is " if YOU guys don't ride like idiots, maybe cars would be more courteous." The old one bad apple in a bunch... So where does the circle of blame stop? It starts with you...share the road and show you are different and that you are just out to enjoy the fresh air not trying to race from light to light or dragging knees in corners, save that for the track! Rant over, carry on! [clap]

I snowboard, and I have no problem with skiers. I wish I knew how to do it. The whole skier vs. snowboarder thing is such old news. We both like to slide down the mountain, isn't that reason to be friends?

And cruisers and sporties both ride bikes but for some reason theres a bit of unspoken animosity.
But I don't ski or snowboard so...

I've seen old film footage from the 1930's of people riding snowboards. Though snowboards didn't really get popular until the '90s, you mathematically cannot have been skiing since before there were snowboards :)
