Anyone rolling this weekend?

Going to try and get out Sunday if I get time to change the oil and plugs.

I actually ran into this guy in the city yesterday. He invited me to this saturday to go riding up in the Palisades with his crew. So I'm most likely going to do that.

Going tomorrow, Sunday. If anyone is interested meet us at the first as stop on palisades after the GW @ 9:00. Were probably going around harriman and 301. Maybe about 2-300 miles nothing crazy. Bring full gear. No jeans and Timbs.

Crap, I would like to come but all I have is a jacket, gloves and helmet. I still rock jeans and timbs.

Just saw this thread this morning: there's no way I will make the meet.

I finally got out yesterday for about 150 miles; felt good to exercise my sleeping beauty.

I went out today, but it was a little lame going by myself. Would love to ride with others, but I've only gotten about 750 miles under my belt.  How fast/hard do you guys ride?

When did you start riding? I ride hard man, I'm always doing 100+ on the highways....just kidding lol.  I started in late July, I bought my bike with 1200 miles on it. I currently have 4075 miles on it right now. I know riding alone is boring, but before you start riding with others you need to ride your ride. I mean if you're comfortable with your riding then it's all good. But in the meanwhile, ride around see how you can take corners, find out with what you're comfortable with and what you need work on. And from there, practice. I used to/still do ride around this lake around my house. It has nice twisties, before I used to go below the speed limit as I wasn't comfortable. But with more and more practice I got better. Point in case, I went riding this Saturday with a bunch of riders. I told them I'm still new, so they were considerate and kept me in the middle. At the end of our run, I asked them for feedback and to my surprise they said that I actually did really well. I cheked my tires and saw that I was actually getting down lower which is good, but I'm not letting that get to my head. There's always room for improvement.

If you're around, I don't mind riding with you. I mean I'm no Rossi, I'm still learning. But I could help you out. 

When you get some more experience take the ARC class. I would sign up now for the one in the spring. It really helped me alot.
The guys I usually ride with are way faster than me. I learned the hard way a while back to ride your own pace. They`ll wait up. Just keep at it. We`ll set up a slower paced ride in the near future. Get the Lea Parks book, and Twist of the wrist 1 and 2, read through the riding techniques thread, and ask questions.

Get gear if you don`t have it. You need it.

It's always more fun to ride with others, but there are some real pros and cons.  The pros are camaraderie of course & new route suggestions .  "The buddy system" that you used to swim with is an even better idea when you're in the middle of nowhere tackling some twisties.  The cons aren't so obvious.  When I was a new rider I went on group rides and because I knew no better, I started following the person in front of me.  This person was a poseur and a dangerously bad rider.  I was learning to follow his bad lines and watching his bad body angles and began to develop his bad habits.  Fortunately somebody with real experience warned me away from following the poseur.  The other (and in my opinion much larger) danger is that you can find yourself riding harder and faster than your experience should allow.  My point is that when group riding you must constantly remind yourself to ride at your own comfort and experience  level and not the (always much faster) people around you.

and before that KNOW your ride. Most of the confidence you get will be from knowing your tires and knowing your bike wont betray you.

Best place to learn that is a trackday i highly suggest one that has some schooling, or take a total control class.

Adding on to what GLantern said, you can always find an empty parking spot and work on braking/slow turns/engine braking/etc., Although its far more limited than a track day since you probably wont (and shouldn't try) practice on your lean angle on turns. Parking lots are predominantly for slow paced practices, well atleast that's what I used them for. 

you can get a 30mph knee on pavement turn at floyd bennet. 40mph if your daring.
