Title: Steering limit lock nut Post by: echelon on May 31, 2008, 04:13:58 PM I need to adjust the steering limit lock nut on the left hand side. When the handle bar is turned fully to the left the controls almost touches the tank. The right hand side is fine.
I am hoping you guys can help me with a couple of questions. 1. Is it as simple as using the correct size Allen key (4.0 mm fits) to move the bolt through the nut to get the right stop point? 2. I read in another post that the correct torque for the steering limit lock nut is 18 NM. I am not a mechanic. How do you measure the torque? For my purposes does 18 Nm mean "real tight"? I will be using the loctite 243 (as mentioned in the service manual) so it should not come loose with all the shaking from riding. Thanks! Locktite is not necessary, use the blue stuff if you must.

Things like that can be hand tight. 18nm is 13 foot pounds, so figure that is finger tight with pressure. Title: Re: Steering limit lock nut Post by: echelon on May 31, 2008, 04:43:16 PM Thanks guys. Job is done and I am happy.
