I've used POR15 on a number of tanks, seems to work fine.

Haven't heard of Petseal here in the US.

All I've read says POR 15 is great IF you prep the tank right and follow the instructions.  If you've got rust you can use that super toilet bowl cleaner from Walmart to stabilize it before you coat.  Turns red rust into that nice stable black iron oxide.

Get the POR kit, has 2 different prep/clean treatments and then the coating.  The stuff is bulletproof.

I've done a 'bunch' of tanks with POR...literally hundreds...

not a single failure.

Follow the directions. [thumbsup]

Will the POR 15 cleaner harm the paint?

The Marine clean will remove wax. The Metal Ready has never hurt OEM paint in my experience, but I'm not sure about refinish materials.

I recall someone did a POR15 and got a few drops on the tank paint and didn't wipe them off right away, left a blemish.  Don't remember if it was the prep or the treatment, sorry.

Sounds like a case of ignoring the instructions to me.

Yes, and that was admitted.  The person said the instructions were to wipe spills immediately and they did let it sit a short while.
