I looked at 2 620ie monsters on the weekend that were both advertised as LAMs approved. Both of the bike looked like they had the bracket modified by the owners.

The first on had the original pins that held the bracket removed and replaced with bolts. Ie you could remove it and reinstall.

The second had the bracket cut so that it no longer restricted the throttle when you twisted it.

Both the bikes had the rego label marked as LAMs

Does any one have a photo of what this bracket SHOULD look like?

Does anyone know if the RTA will require inspections of these bikes at some time to confirm that they haven't been tampered with. Both the bike were 06 models so presumably from next year they will need pink slips for rego renewal.

Can anyone help me out on this?

this is only my understanding of the rules
from what ive been told by fraisers, ducati penrith, rta, and the insurance PI from western qbe

they all said pretty much the same thing
a bike needs to be LAMS from new to be able to be LAMS compliant
the restrictor can be removed and the bike can be reregistered without it as LAMS approved
mine has now been reregistered 3 times as LAMS approved, and each time ive made sure ive told them the restrictor has been removed then they ask if i intend to sell it with the restrictor back on, when i answer yes they say its too hard to do once removed from registration so they keep it there. each person from the RTA has made me aware that if someone else rides the bike who is a learner the restrictor has to be on as if they get pulled over by the  [leo] and they check it is loss of licence but as im a full licence its fine.
then once im selling it put the restrictor back on (2 RTA people have told me to get a qualified person as it may be checked by some rta inspectors )
i purchased on from ducati penrith no problems, its sitting in the shed waiting for sale with the bike if needed

once again its only my understanding from diffrent conversations with diffrent people

both wanted over $12k
one started at $13,900 and he's at 12,500 now but recons his luggage is worth $500. He's made.
The other wants 12500 and has a pay out figure of 12100. His has a restrictor which has been cut. Hence I want to know if I can have it replaced. The rego expired in august 09 hence question about Rta inspections of LAMs.
I rode them both and honesty they are sooooo slow..... But I do ride ans S4RS [thumbsup]

I have a 620ie with a restrictor which i had mad myself...

The RTA does not require an inspection but it does need to be pointed out to whoever is doing your blueslip if you want it to be changed...

In my opinion buy the bike with the restrictor which can be put back on, not the Cut one... Also maybe check out the Auctions as thats where i got my monster for $6500 (water damage, Wet tyres or something silly)  i do have photos on here somewhere if you want to check it out...

also when you go the re register the bike they dont check restrictors or anything... On there VIN Database the Lams approved bike has all the same details as the Full Power bike...

As long as your rego papers already has it you are good to go as a Lams bike...

Disclaimer: If you dont have the right license to ride the full power monster you will void any insurance in a accident
