Hey guys,

Have been occassionally looking for a pair of sunnies to wear under my helmet and thought I would ask what everybody else is doing.

My regular sunnies are polarised so I get 'spooky' vision when I wear them under the helmet looking through the visor - so I tend to go without. Tinted visor is out because I find we often go from night-to-day or day-to-night when out and about.

Also they need to be slick/sleek enough to slip on once the bash-hat is in place. So, what's the go?

I wear a pair of Arnette sunnies, well the frames at least.
I have my can't see in the distance old man prescription in them as all my glasses do.
But this time I got a yellow tint so they can be worn day/night with a clear visor or tinted one.

You'll see them Friday on the course.

Hey Betty had the same dilemma... So i went for the FogCity "Hyper Optiks" Light Reactive inset. Works a treat in sunlight (goes dark) and in the dark (is a clear visor).

It's light reactive, anti fog (so far it has been), UV protective. Got mine at Fraser's Homebush (and they even fitted it for me "free")......

And yes you will see it on Friday as well........

I wear prescription specs and cos I like to ride around a lot with my visor up I aways have impact resistant/shatterproof lenses in my specs. My current biking sunnies are Bolle hurricane safety specs (courtesy of my employer) don't look too daggy great field of vision and the standard lenses are optically correct. They fit well in my helmet and the best thing is they are only about 20 bucks a pair. I just get precription lenses fitted to them. I like them so much I've got a couple of pairs for different occassions, polarising lenses for fishing, transitions for normal work and plain tinted for biking. I got mine from farnell electronics on line.

got one of these - calles ducati juliet.........looks ok but can't wear them under the helmet due to idiotic design   [bang]

so on a bike i'm wearing a piece of german technology and sure enough they fit well, have 3 sets of interchangeable lenses (dark, yellow and white) and all this for just over 100 bucks. way to go, bmw  :)

I find that Oakley Monster Dog sunglasses fit nicely in a full-face helmet. They aren't polarized, so no "spooky vision." I found a good deal on the Ducati ones, but they're almost indistinguishable from the "regular" ones.

Since I don't mind polarized, I often wear Maui Jim Ho'okipas in my helmet. Overall, I like them better than the Oakleys.

Maui Jim's are my day-to-day sunnies but I find the vision less than ideal through the visor. Had considered the Oakleys but they seem to be very bulky around the temples - and when I have seen some I have not had the helmet handy to test the theory.

Farnell Electronics online could be worth a look. S'pose one of my fears has been spending a couple of hundred bucks on sunnies primarily for riding and then not have them fit under the helmet.

Further to that, when I was looking for something to go under my helmet I took it along to the fittings.
Tis one way to be sure to be sure......

I have to have a look at that Big T, I had to ride throught nasho and M/P with my visor open on the 31st couldnt see squat with my dark visor in the shady spots also hard to see the wet spots  :o

(settle down all you dirty minded people)

Where as I rode the whole way with visor down and seeing all the "wet spots".....  [thumbsup]

And when the sun came out in the afternoon, the world went dark.......  8)

I just use a pair of $10 safety (sun)glasses from bunnings, if you find the ones with flexable arms they are very comfortable.

They are UV rated, have an impact rating, and the arms are slim and flexi.
I've been using them for years, excellent lens quality for riding/driving.
Only hicup is that you have to buy them direct from the USA...aka Visa Card.
Last set (2006)cost me $140AU inc post.
Spare lens are available.

Just received 2 pairs of bolles to to see how they go . I got the prowlers with 2 different types of lenses. About $60 including delivery from safetyquip online.

Seem comfie enough. Now time for this weather to break so I can go for a ride in the sun!

Reporting that these sunnies are great inside the helmet.
