Title: Ohlins DU046 vs. DU321 Rear Shocks Post by: RAT900 on March 25, 2010, 02:44:42 AM Can anyone tell me the difference between the 2? They are both showing as legitimate models for an 02 Monster 900 ie
Thanks Title: Re: Ohlins DU046 vs. DU321 Rear Shocks Post by: ducpainter on March 25, 2010, 03:04:37 AM Can anyone tell me the difference between the 2? They are both showing as legitimate models for an 02 Monster 900 ie The DU 321 is much like the stock shock with no external reservoir. Everything is internal. Thanks The 046 has external/piggyback reservoir and by the looks hydraulic pre-load adjustment. Title: Re: Ohlins DU046 vs. DU321 Rear Shocks Post by: mendoje on March 25, 2010, 03:33:34 AM In addition to the hydraulic preload adjustment, the DU046 has adjustable rebound and compression damping, while the 321 only has adjustable rebound damping.

Compression damping is always on the remote reservoir.Good catch... Title: Re: Ohlins DU046 vs. DU321 Rear Shocks Post by: YellowMonster on March 25, 2010, 10:22:33 AM If you make your selection you might want to grab one quickly if you are going new. When I bought my Ohlins forks and DU046 in November of last year there were only a few rear shocks left in the system (and I obtained one of the last sets of forks).

I saw YM's post (http://ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=31296.msg542828#msg542828 (http://ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=31296.msg542828#msg542828)) a couple days after he posted, and immediately called up Dan Kyle on the status of DU046's. By that time, (30 Oct09) Dan said that there were no more left in the USA, and 5 remaining in Sweden. So I immediately ordered mine and got it a couple weeks later. That said, if you Google DU 046 and check eBay, there appears to be some vendors who are still listing them. Whether they actually have them in stock is to be seen. Another option for all the same features as the DU 046 is the DU 333, the difference is the external reservoir is connected via a hose, rather than attached directly to the shock body. The 333 was my alternate choice, but they were also in short supply at the time (3 in the USA, 17 in Sweden) Best to call Dan (www.kyleusa.com (http://)) at 831 394 1330 right NOW. If you order, ask if the ADV Rider discount is still good (24% off list price).
