Sitting in traffic, not moving. A screech behind me, then BANG !The bike shoots forward, hits the road on its right side sliding with me on top .Got up .Not a scratch ! But my poor S4R . Swing arm bent. Back frame bent. Back tail broken . Rear hugger same. New Wilbers shock must be same .Brand new bar end mirror ,gone .Number plate up the road ! looks like crumpled cardboard.The frame slider did its job . Saved the clutch,Termies. [bang]The guy driving the ute reckons the sun was in his eyes . Nice ! My first question is"are you insured ?So he says , yes , fully. So now , who do i go in Sydney for the work to be done ? That is, if its not a write off !

In my limited experience of crashing motorcycles and insurance companies, if the frame has been bent, it's likely to be written off.

Hope there was a witness, did you report it to the cops?
First thing contact your own insurance company asap. Be pro-active and ring the dick in the ute's insurance company too. Don't go easy on the prick, he could have killed you.
It will more than likely be a write-off sorry to say, consider purchasing it back as they never cover the replacement costs of your bling. You can then use the bits on a new bike or sell the parts and make a couple of bucks. Get to the doctor, get checked out and remember to claim for any damaged gear as well.
Good luck, it's never good to hear about this sort of stuff but trust we here can be of some help.

So make sure your insurance will pay out in full, hope you had some of your bling covered at least the pipes.
Then start looking for a new bike I'd say.

Hey thanks for all the feed back and support. The forum"s an amazing place! When your down and out , gets you out from the 'dark side'!Taking the bike on Monday to Gowanloch. Just up the road and been going to them for yonks.The guy's rang me today , gave me insurance details so thats cool .If its a write off, i stand to lose thousands .Only get the market value.Never replace what i had for that money.Not to mention all the "love" Anyway, there's not a thing i could of done except a split second befor, i released the brake and let go so the bike just shot from under me.I got that from my old motorcross racing days on the start line !Common getting hit at the start. Lucky i had the Alpinestar high boots on.! Got a good hit just below the right knee and didnt feel a thing and a graze on my glove.Havn't checked my jacket yet.If i didnt have them on would be a different story.Anyway thats me out for a while to come.Keep you posted.Hanging out to go for a ride already !!!!!

firstly, goldfish is probably right so the big question is are YOU insured? if you are, you need to make a claim yourself, submitting all the details of the person responsible obviously, but if you submit the claim you will have a lot more control over what happens to your bike. Do you have the std stuff for it? if so, put it back on before it's assessed, if it does turn out to be a write off and you either don't want/can't get the wreck you will have your accessories to fit to your eventual replacement or something to sell if you buy something else. depending on how your insurance co. works you may have to pay the excess and get it back when they settle up with the other drivers insurance or they may waive it due to you getting his details.
Did you get a police report? if you didn't get on to it now, RIGHT NOW! insurance companies want police reports, even if the coppers say there's no point, they're too busy, no one was hurt etc. put your foot down and insist on it, you will need it to get your claim acted on.
   Wherever you take it, talk to them, there's usually a set % that determines a write off so try and work it out that it comes in just under if possible if you want it back, and remember to claim everything that was damaged, boots, jeans, helmet etc.

Good advice from all of the above, why dont you visit your doctor and get a check over and tell them its from a accident, that way it will definately generate a police report.

Now, I just got my bike back from a similar incident, I was insured with Insure my ride, and they were very pro-active with me and the bike went to a bike repair shop called Collide-ascope, they are up at Asquith, but they did a wonderful job on my bike, it looks brand new, I also claimed my helmet (mate you gotta do that as you dont know if it took a hit or not) and my Draggin' jeans as the ambo's cut them off me, I took some photos of both and sent them to the insurance company and they paid without hesitation.

I'd have to agree about seeing the Doc. You may feel OK, but over the next day or two there may be a few things you start to notice ... if things have been bumped, pushed or pulled in the wrong way it may take a while to show. You don't want to say you are fine but then find yourself at the physio (or whatever) later on.

Quick question on the blingy bits:
If you have the items listed on the policy and the incident is not your fault what is covered / how is it handled?

Our bike are all with Insure My Ride so I glad you had good service from them.

That was my initial response reading this as well. You never what might start to 'hurt' or just 'twinge' in a couple of days. Just good to cover off that side of things. I also reckon it's a write-off based on your description, but then that can be negotiated with insurance sometimes - especially if you stand to lose money.

OK. Thanks everyone for all the support and info. Given me lots of motivation to get it all happening!There is an issue starting up with a toe so off to the doctor.I installed an LED panel in the rear tail light (really bright) and wear a red Ducati jacket but all thats useless if the dumb make the beast with two backs was'nt watching!You lose points speeding etc but you lose nothing doing something like nearly killing someone.Starting to think i should of called the cops at the scene.!I guess there was a bit of shock involved so was'nt thinking right.people stopped and gave me their number as witnesses. Had my camera so took photo's.Any way hope its not long till im back riding !

Yes Gino in hindsight maybe you should have called the cops if only to get them to check out the knobhead driver and get yourself a police report for insurance. Hope you have now been to see them.
