Title: Colored sprocket carrier nuts
Post by: uclabiker06 on March 27, 2010, 03:15:25 PM
Wanted to swap rear sprocket nuts for nicer ones but the pit bull stand i have for my SSS monster doesn't allow for sprocket/chain work b/c it attaches to the rear wheel from the side of the sprocket.  Can I remove sprocket nuts while the bike is on the stand that I have?  Anyone know where i can get some black nuts (no pun intended)?

yes you can. the wheel stays on. the nut comes off.

i mean to say as logn as you dont take the rear off, your fine. just leave your bike on the side stand.

Yes, read the eBay listing.  It states that the nuts are from Pro-Bolt.   :)

BTW, Pro-Bolt USA is run by David Cork at streetfightersbydesign.com.  He's a good guy, and I've purchased from him, but expect to wait a while for your items.  They come from England to California, and then out to you.  At least two weeks if you're on the east coast.  Before the USA site was up, I ordered from Pro-Bolt directly and got items in 10 or fewer days.  :P

I recently ordered a couple things, it seems that they are stocking some stuff in the U.S. now, my order has shipped already, minus the Pro-Gauge i ordered, which is backordered 7-10 days, probably cause it's coming from the UK... [thumbsup]

They are 15mm on the S2R 800.
I'm confused... So what size are they on the S4Rs?

I don't know

Metric bolts and nuts are described by the size of the threads.
AFAIK, *all* nuts and bolts are, with the possible exception of Whitworth fasteners.

The thread is 10mm.
The hex is 15mm.
99% sure all S*R are covered by that.

Might be good to confirm that those aluminum nuts can be torqued to the spec... [coffee]

My '05 S4R has 10mm threads.

Pro bolts,  specify no more than 44Nm or 33 ft/lbs.  Anyone know the torque value for these nuts?  I think manual calls for 11Nm but not sure.

Service manual says 48 N-m.

I would not use aluminum nuts on the hub not even 7075-T6.....Titanium, Stainless, and Alloy Steel. We stock all the sizes for the hub. You don't have to buy from us, but the size is M10-1.25, but if you do, you get a 10% DMF discount!
