Title: Has Jim left Nichols?
Post by: slower than... on March 28, 2010, 10:21:59 AM
Rumor on ducati.ms is that Jim has left and opened his own shop, competing with Nichols.  I called Nichols last week before I heard anything about it, and talked to Mike, so I know he is still there.

Has anybody heard about this, and if it is true, know how to get hold of Jim?  Mike is knowledgeable, and Nichols is great, but a lot of my allegiance is because of Jim.

yes, jim left nichols a while ago.

josh and mike have been the mechanics working on bikes @ nichols for the past few years, so quality of work and service will not be changed.  you are still going to get the superior service at competitive pricing from nichols.

So does anybody know where Jim Davis is at now?

He's the only one I want working on my bikes.  Or is it time for me to actually use all of the repair manuals I've collected and learn to do my own valve checks and belt changes?

Time to do your own valve checks & Belt changes.

You can do it.

Jim Davis has opened a new shop next door to Helimot, so I'll be helping him get his new business going by taking my bikes there.

Here's the information:

I just took my monster down to Jim's new place yesterday, for oil change and "what about that funny noise?" service.  ;)

Jim is one of the nicest guys ever! Not only that, he knows so much about Ducatis. It's amazing.

Not only did I get nice fresh oil, he was able to adjust my handlebar brake switch so it now works reliably (whew), he checked my tire pressure, advised me on the least expensive way to replace all those leaky seals (during my 24K service), and so on.

Not that Nichol's isn't still a great place, but I'll be taking my lil duc down to Jim from now on, to support a great guy, doing what he loves.
