Just ordered the Competition Werkes tail tidy kit. Now Im getting anxious and want to get the bike ready for when it comes in...does anyone have this kit and can send me the directions? ;D ;D
Instructions should come with it. Bit of a headf@ck as it isnt written to clearly, will take you about 1hr (well it did me). Enjoy your new much tidier bike!!!!
.
i was able to get it off without breaking anything.
Id LIKE to keep it in once piece...wish me luck.
I was also considering a new tail light with integrated turn signals...I saw a clear one with all LED and sequential turns...if I get that one Ill put the plate in "location 2" I think..

some people have problems with the law putting the plate at position 2
edit: i realize now the first picture is not a cw kit, but its still in "position 1"

Install took 1.5 hours, didnt break anything, instructions are TERRIBLE. helpful note...once you get everything bolted together and realize you need to route the blinker wires back through the bottom plate [bang]...take off the two front bolts and bend the plate...this allows enough room to get the wires in. Looks very good, but I sorta wish I had just sprung for the DucatiPerformance kit. It looks like a little more effort went into it...the CW kit looks good enough and is stainless, but It leaves some gaps Im not a fan of, and with access to a shear and brake, could easily be duplicated.
The kit also included stick on blinkers (I am assuming if you chose the seccond plate location you coudl use them in leiu of the stockers...but I have no idea where one would mount them...)
All in all, PITA to install, but a good clean looking final product. [thumbsup]
EDIT: Another big plus to this kit, when mounting the plate light, they have you cut and splice the new light, not the factory one, meaning NONE of the stock parts are modified...so if for some unknown reason you would want to put it back to stock...you can.
When I modified my stock fender, I was at first concerned with removing the cable for the seat lock and the flapper valve. Turns out the cables are actually very easily removed. I ended up being somewhat of an "expert" as I removed and installed the two fender pieces a half a dozen times or so as I was playing with the angle of the plate bracket I fabbed up. I couldn't really tell how it would look until I installed it back on the bike.
