Title: M-Label Rizoma clone mirror review Post by: orangelion03 on March 31, 2010, 10:13:27 AM (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v48/orangelion03/CNC-MIRIROR-A1-Black-900px.jpg) http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280449624301&ih=018&category=35610&_trksid=p3911.m7&_trkparms=algo%3DLVI%26itu%3DUCI%26otn%3D3%26ps%3D6%26clkid%3D8889213766514051593 (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? To me, they look identical to Rizoma Reverse Retros (there was some discussion on another thread that they may be the same mirror), they appear to be very stout and well machined. The flex joint is tight, but the adjusting movement is smooth. The mirror is flat glass with a blue tint that looks a bit too dark for me. The mirrors come with several plastic bushings intended to adapt the mounting feature to various diameters of bars and bar-ends. Delivered price to USA was $89 for the pair. I have not decided how to mount them yet. Rizoma shows theirs mounted on cylindrical bar ends, but M-Label only sells tapered ones. I may buy a set of cheap cylindricals or have my pops machine something up for me. Alternativley, if one has the room to slide their controls further into the bars, they could be mounted there (width of the mounting arm is .53 inches/13.5mm). I'll update with more information after mounting and riding with them. In my opinion, they look better than the Napoleons I'm currently using, but I anticipate that rearward vision will not be as good. Title: Re: M-Label Rizoma clone mirror review Post by: MonsterTom on March 31, 2010, 12:53:01 PM I love these mirrors, but could never justify the $100+ per side for the Rizoma's. At less than half the cost this seems like a viable option. Anxious to see what you think about them.

Surprised the glass is not convex. Maybe that, and the price, are the differences with the Rizoma. Can anyone confirm the Rizoma Reverse Retro has convex glass? Title: Re: M-Label Rizoma clone mirror review Post by: topangster on March 31, 2010, 02:34:13 PM [quote

I believe my bar-ends are cylindrical, too... Title: Re: M-Label Rizoma clone mirror review Post by: orangelion03 on March 31, 2010, 04:31:05 PM Move your grips on a little and put them betwwen the grips and the bar ends. That is one of the mountings I will try, but I may not have the room. The mirror bracket is just over a half inch wide. I am using higher rise bars than stock so there is a limit to how much I can move my controls inwards...limited by the first downward bend. This would be the ideal mount as I would be clamping directly to the bar and would not have to worry about spinning a bar end if mounted on that. I'll let you know! Title: Re: M-Label Rizoma clone mirror review Post by: teddy037.2 on March 31, 2010, 07:24:43 PM Can anyone confirm the Rizoma Reverse Retro has convex glass? they are flat, and tinted blue. Rizomas got the right idea with the looks....not so much on the price.

Got my finger on the order button. with the retros, it took a few rides to get used to moving around to see behind me... hasn't bothered me since Title: PHOTOS! Post by: orangelion03 on April 01, 2010, 04:29:09 PM OK fellows, here are some photos of the mirrors installed on my ride. I ended up scootching the controls inward as far as they could go and mounted the mirrors directly on the bar, and then installed the Rizoma bar-ends I had taken off when I used the Napoleons. I think they look really good! Ride report will have to wait until tomorrow.

Orange, how long did it take from order date to you receiving them, seeing as they come from HK? Title: Re: M-Label Rizoma clone mirror review Post by: orangelion03 on April 02, 2010, 02:58:55 AM Orange, how long did it take from order date to you receiving them, seeing as they come from HK? Ordered on the 23rd and arrived on the 31st. That was to SoCal...points further east might take another day or so? I believe M-Label states 7 to 14 days to the USA. Title: Test Ride Post by: orangelion03 on April 02, 2010, 12:55:56 PM Rode the bike with the new mirrors today, and I am happy with the results. I would recommend these to anyone looking for an alternative to the Rizmos. The view in the mirrors is restricted ( a lot smaller than the Napoleons they replaced), but I found it adequate and there was no blurring due to vibration...I even got used to the blue tint after a few minutes. I would not hesitate to purchase another pair.
Title: Re: M-Label Rizoma clone mirror review Post by: He Man on April 02, 2010, 05:29:07 PM could we get a shot of the bike as a whole?
hey direcktor, id be interested in them if you didnt like them. After putting several hundred miles on the bike with these mirrors, my original verdict stands: they are great! The view out back is good, they look great, and they are very solid in feel and position. If you like the style, you wont be disappointed for your $90.

I just received my oberian bar-end blinkers....and they do not work well with CRG lane splitters so I'm looking for a mirror. I think these will work perfect (flipped to be under the bars of course). Now...should I go for the silver to match my billet triples, or the black... Title: Re: M-Label Rizoma clone mirror review Post by: BlackKat on May 02, 2010, 11:05:39 AM Just a heads up boys, there are a couple US based sellers for these now and cheaper. Title: Re: M-Label Rizoma clone mirror review Post by: TAftonomos on May 02, 2010, 01:53:37 PM Awesome, and don't forget to use bing cashback on ebay either. 8% more off.
Question....did they mount directly to the bars? My bar (S4r) is ~22mm in diameter, so I'm not sure how the 26-30mm adaptors would work. Shouldn't be too difficult to machine up an adapter of your own. Yup, mine mounted on bars using their thick adapter, but even that one was tight and I had to "persuade" it with a rubber mallet. I shelled out for rizomas (not reverse retro) and was VERY dissapointed to find flat glass. however my mirrors were the cheaper kind, not the $350+ of the awesome prototypes etc. i figured they must be convex and thats why they cost more Title: Re: M-Label Rizoma clone mirror review Post by: Privateer on May 13, 2010, 06:19:42 PM my mirrors showed up today

Maneuvering them is a little tough will all the set screws and bolts. I don't really like the whole metal sleeve thing holding them on. I might try figuring something else out for that. I like the simple friction setup the Napoleans use. I also plan to replace all the set screws with quality stainless versions and blue loctite them. I'm planning to replace my bars (suburban machine) at some point as well and will fill that gap between the barends and the grips at that point. Seemed like no matter where I put those my elbows still blocked them. The convex lense helps on these, I can see directly behind me and still see most of my blind spot. Tested them out a little with slower traffic and by the time I can't see them in the mirror I can see them in my peripheral vision. My only complaint is I had to augment the mounting with some rubber strips or it wobbled, no matter how tightly it was mounted. Adjusting them whilst riding is pointless, soon as I touch them to nudge one way or another, the clamping mechanism lets go and suddenly it's very loose. twist it back the other way, tightens back up. I might try to fashion up a rubber tube like the napoleans use. That seems more user friendly. Overall I'm satisfied. I wish I didn't feel so dirty for buying them off ebay from some nigerian prince in Hong Kong. Title: Re: M-Label Rizoma clone mirror review Post by: DucatiTorrey on May 14, 2010, 03:04:45 PM are these the round ones you speak of? or "Reverse retro" style?

I might try to fashion up a rubber tube like the napoleans use. That seems more user friendly. so I took the rubber tube piece off my napoleans, tool the shims off the m-label mirror, put the rubber on, turned the wedge nut thing around, so the wide end pressed against the rubber, and voila, a nice stable clamping mech that doesn't come undone at a feather's touch. Of course, the napoleans are out of commission from being canabalized, but it works until I can find some other suitable tubing. The cap screw that attaches the mirror to the bracket can come loose and fall out. If the mirror starts getting loose, check the screw...add some loctite and snug it up. I was riding a couple weekends ago, and one of mine fell off (looked for it but couldnt find it). Even more kudos to M-label for excellent service...ordered another pair off E-bay on sunday night, and they arrived at my house on west coast usa on thursday. |
