So what else can I now do to it? Title: Re: It's Finished....for now! Post by: DosVerde on March 31, 2010, 11:17:45 PM Looks sweet, how you liking the clip-ons?
Next? How about removing the airbox and putting a couple of pods on [thumbsup] Title: Re: It's Finished....for now! Post by: Mr.S2R on March 31, 2010, 11:24:43 PM nice man! [thumbsup]

Title: Re: It's Finished....for now! Post by: tonymtber on April 01, 2010, 12:41:50 AM Looks sweet, how you liking the clip-ons? Next? How about removing the airbox and putting a couple of pods on [thumbsup] Clip ons are good...I dont have them set real low, just a slight downwards angle. They felt low when I first put them on, but I could probably drop them a bit more now. Got them direct from the manufacture in the US....Apex manufacturing if your interested. The owner is a nice guy who was really helpful & knew his stuff. Price was pretty good to! http://www.apexmfg.com/cliponsstore.html (http://www.apexmfg.com/cliponsstore.html) Now the pods are a very good idea! I've put the on a few older custom bikes, but never thought of them on this....now you've got me thinking. Is there anything I need to worry about (ie sensors etc) if I remove the air box? Do you know what size pods I would need? Cheers Tony Title: Re: It's Finished....for now! Post by: DosVerde on April 01, 2010, 12:56:28 AM To tell you the truth Tony, I have no idea. I have seen it on some of the US members bikes and like the way it opens up the frame, but I have no idea how to do it.

Post by: vossy on April 01, 2010, 02:44:27 PM nice set of lights Tony.
How do they compare vision wise to the original one? Title: Re: It's Finished....for now! Post by: Monstar_100 on April 01, 2010, 05:13:45 PM hey mate love the new lights, where did you get the lights from?
did you install the lights yourself? Title: Re: It's Finished....for now! Post by: tonymtber on April 01, 2010, 05:29:02 PM Thanks WRXMY99. I've already found their site & have been checking out their kits...pretty much a straight bolt on. I've been bouncing a few emails to Allan over there & he's pretty helpful.
Hey Vossy, they are only for show! :D...to be honest I haven't tried them at night. Both lights are on all the time so there should be big more light there. Got them from http://moto-madness.com/index.htm (http://moto-madness.com/index.htm) The lights including the mounting brackets were around $250 US delivered. Pretty easy to fit, just remove the old headlight & mounting brackets. I also changed the instrument cluster mounts & mounted them under the top triple clamp (dropped it around 5cm). I modified the lower part of the bracket that holds the brake cables in place, but I only did this so I can hide all the messy wiring that normally sits behind the headlight. Only took a couple of hours all up! Title: Re: It's Finished....for now! Post by: sydmonster on April 01, 2010, 06:24:07 PM Nice work and indeed changes the look of the bike [thumbsup]
So what else can I now do to it? well... since you asked. ;D- remove rear huger - put paint matched rear cowl - remove side panels - put matching rim tape - remove timing belt(s) covers - lower entire light/gauge/dials assembly (there's a few DIY examples on this board on how too) - (if you don't ride 2-up/pillion) then fit a nice set of rear-set foot control/pegs to do away with the horridly big OEM ones. Was looking at a custom two tone seat....just so the kids can still come for a ride. Had a look at the logistics of pulling the air box out & putting pods in.....started playing today & an hour later its all out including a heap plastic bits, hoses etc. Its amazing how much plastic is hidden away under the tank & seat! Title: Re: It's Finished....for now! Post by: mattyvas on April 03, 2010, 01:06:58 AM Nice work, the lights look great on your bike.
All the black out work suits it well. Title: Re: It's Finished....for now! Post by: tonymtber on April 15, 2010, 11:42:53 PM OK OK....so its still a work in progress....
The air box is now gone, fitted a TPO crankcase breather kit & put on some small pods. So there is a heap of plastic now out of the bike so it should be a bit lighter ;D. The pods look cool, & there's a bit more performance, but best of all is the sound! Open the throttle & there is a nice deep growl as everything opens up. Really above all else the new sound is the best & if you are looking at improving the sound of your bike I would highly recommend this mod [thumbsup] (& its cheap too!) Will post some pics tomorrow. Title: Re: It's Finished....for now! Post by: tonymtber on April 16, 2010, 01:52:28 PM Lots of room under the tank now!

Post by: mattyvas on April 16, 2010, 02:38:25 PM Nice work, did the oil breather a little while back and also added an STM billet item (well at the next service)

Post by: tonymtber on April 16, 2010, 04:57:39 PM Nice work, did the oil breather a little while back and also added an STM billet item (well at the next service) Did you use a TPO kit or did you just buy a filter? I used the kit, but all I needed from it was the filter, so the rest of if was a bit of a waste. For those who are looking at removing the air box completely, buying a filter on its own is a cheaper way to go.Title: Re: It's Finished....for now! Post by: Mr.S2R on April 16, 2010, 05:17:01 PM there is a lot of conjecture about removing the oil breather - I have looked at fitting it on my S2R but from what I have read and seen I have placed it in the too hard basket. I have looked at the 'beast' air filter setup from TPO and it does look enticing! Ur making me want to do bling things during the winter Tony! In the meantime I have been sidetracked with a friends [moto] though.....(she will be a future Monster owner) ;D
