Title: Clutch side pressure switch connector disassembly?
Post by: Privateer on April 04, 2010, 07:21:07 AM
good morning.

I can't seem to figure it out, but is there a way to disassemble the connector for the pressure switch (right by the oil filler)?

The high tech tape that ducati used on the wire end started fraying and unraveling so I wanted to shrink tube the end.  I can't seem to get the wire end out of the big connector so I put the apppropriately sized tubing over the wire/connector junction.  I tried fiddling with the red plastic thing inside that is obviously connected to the wire, but to no result.

Any suggestions on how to pop that thing apart?

thanks
Andy

The OEM connectors are indeed a beyotch to disassemble.

Probably easier to snip the wire.

indeed.  I fiddled with that thing for an hour trying to figure out some kind of latch or something on the inside keeping it together.  Much swearing and taking of breaks ensued until I finally gave up when I was ready to take my dremel to it.

maybe i can find some larger shrink tube that will shrink down far enough...

Here's a source for the connector, in case you decide to snip, or something goes wrong.

well I ended up buying slightly larger shrink tube which didn't shrink down far enough.  So i put a small little zip tie on the open end and that should be fine.  Probably more protective than the ridiculous factor tape job.
