Title: Need some input on a specific battery
Post by: EEL on April 07, 2010, 03:57:45 AM
Anyone used one of these?

They look pretty good and should fit my S2r800 without any modifications. Thought I'd confirm fitment just in case. Terminals look like they are in the right spot. weight seems like a good compromise for the capacity.

I believe all recent monsters carry batteries with the following dimensions:
6" L x 2 3/4" W x 5 1/8" H

The one in your link is 5.8” x 3.4” x 4.2”, so it looks might it might be too wide.  I'd suggest measuring the available space on your bike.

I think that's the same size as the Odyssey battery.  If so, it'll fit.

Its dual input so you can place it sideways. It is still about an 3/4" taller though (3.4" vs 2.75 for the stock one). Based on what I read the 6" dimension on the stock would match up directly with the 5.8 for the braille battery.

I was looking at cost and its about 130 bucks and available locally.

Anyone used one of these?

i have a deka ETX12 on my carb'd m900 w/keihin carbs (no choke) and starts up within a couple cranks. due to the nature of the beast. here's the spec sheet on the other battery sizes http://www.eastpenn-deka.com/assets/base/0278.pdf (http://www.eastpenn-deka.com/assets/base/0278.pdf) . mine was $60 out the door. sealed, AGM, 1yr warranty, maintenance free, spill and leakproof(NO ACID DAMAGE). i'm happy. maybe next time i'll buy the EXT9.
