Title: Oil Cooler Installation Question
Post by: headingtonb on April 07, 2010, 02:00:48 PM
I removed my oil cooler and there was minimal drainage, I poured a  majority of the remaining oil back into the reservoir. My question is, when i reinstall do I need to refill the cooler or can I just reconnect and go? My concern is pushing the air back into the motor and causing harm.

Thanks.

Ben

Just connect it back up, I did that when I took mine off to replace the Hoses (Switched to the Hypermotard lines)
I have seen a few others do the same with no problems.

I assume most off the oil will move back down the lines when the engine shuts off anyway, when I disconnected mine I only got a small
amount of oil out also.

Only takes a second or five to move that much oil through the cooler and lines.  Just don't rev the motor until the oil pressure light goes out and you'll do fine.
