hi fellas,
have a quick question. would there be any serious implications to the engine if one were to switch from semi-synthetic engine oil to fully synthetic oil or vice versa. eg motul semi synth 5100 10w40 to fully synth mobil 1 10w40. if so can one please explain why? thanks very much. this would be on a 4V ducati. cheers.

As long as you are going to be using moto specific oil, you will be fine.
Yep, most modern oils even say that in a pinch, if you need to top off while out on the road you can blend. I wouldn't run a blend for long but that just shows you there should be no problem switching. Only consideration, full synthetic uses a smaller molecular particle and most brands are high detergent; if yours is a high mileage engine you might (or might not) see some seeping.
As long as your bike is a newer model you should be fine. If it is, lets say, pre 2000 then double check by calling a dealer perhaps. I know that some bikes don't like fully synthetic if they are not broken in. So if its broken in you should be fine even if its not a newer model.
Oil: Better have it, then not.
not a big deal as long as you stay with the proper type of oil, as in engine oil. If dry clutch, doesnt even matter if its car, and if it is for car, doesnt matter if its diesel or gasoline. if its wet clutch, only use if nothing else is available as a top off oil. if doing oil swap, stick to motorcycle specific.
