Title: Death Valley Post by: sugarcrook on April 11, 2010, 03:19:08 PM Just got back from Death Valley on the K bike. Camped in Panamint Springs. Other than the insane wind down there and the downpour on the way back, it was a good trip. Here are a couple pics:

I did the tour of death Valley in the fall (mid october) on my monster. Great tour! Title: Re: Death Valley Post by: sugarcrook on April 13, 2010, 10:59:18 AM Thanks. Yes, this is about the season to see the wildflowers. They weren't really going strong when I was there. Honestly, now that I've been there, I don't have much need to go back and see it again. I can visit some national parks repeatedly, but DV isn't one of them.

I went there a few years ago specifically when it should have been in bloom. The best flowers were just outside the east entrance. Even though there were probably a dozen varieties, just about all of them were very small and looked like desert plants. I was expecting something more.If you want to see wild flowers, drive up Mt. Diablo. Or any of the hills in the area. Still, Death Valley is a beautiful place and worth visiting if you've never been there. Worth going back to if you have. |
