I just installed a full Zard system on my 2006 S2R 1000. After a few issues with the exhaust gaskets, I got everything working and sealed...
So upon examining the pipes I noticed that I am missing a bolt/plug. It is a bolt/plug that has an allen wrench head and screws into the mid-pipes. I dont know the purpose of it, nor do i know what it is called. But on my ride this weekend, one of them became loose and fell out. [bang]
A few questions...
1. What is the purpose of the bolt?
2. Would the local Ducati dealer have one I can buy or is it a part that is specific to Zard pipes? (ie size, thread pattern)
3. What the hell is the thing called?!
7801007A and there is a crush washer. At least that's the part number for the older monsters.
Yours looks to be: ... the same #.
Its similar to an exhaust bung for O2 sensors.
85250241A - the "gasket". I think its actually a crush washer. Use some loctite. You don't want that to be open to the atmosphere because you'll get some poppin' in the exhaust.
Thanks for the help on the part#,.
so what is the purpose of it?
I think it may be for an O2 sensor, if you want one of those bedeviled things on your motorcycle.
There is a different place for the O2 sensor. These are smaller but similar looking holes.
1. I believe the ports are used to check the exhaust gases from the individual cylinders
2. A dealer may have them.
3. I always called them exhaust bungs .

Yep, that is what they are for. Same threads as OEM? Dunno. Zard should know. If your local dealer has them give one a try, if not see what you can pick up at a plumbing supply.
I know what you are talking about now.
