IDK if you guys still want a peek at the 4K Kustom we turned out a bit ago, but here it is none the less. It was supposed to go to Buttonwillow for some testing today, but got rained out.
Pretty simple formula really -
Start with a low mile S4R, add a few tasteful bits, pull the engine to do some cleanup and a respray. A few color changes, and a slick custom without a huge outlay of cash. Our first entry into the "normally priced" custom bike. Im not well versed in the pic posting thing, but you can check out full sized pics on the website

it's not raining in my garage... and I have beer ;)
subtle. nice.
love the blacked out motor.
Very clean. Very subtle.
I think that was the point, and I like it. [thumbsup]
Nice clean look [bacon] I like it
is all the carbon Nexray?
Front fender and Clutch cover... stock side panels. Im kinda over the carbon thing right now.. Chrome for Duc's ya know?
Care to share pics of how you routed the wire harness? :)
I think I see it -- between the bottom frame rail and the radiator.
4K kustom as in you want to sell it to me for 4k?
Clean and simple, nice
KDS, more like bring us your bike and 4k.... lol
The main harness is split into two and routed down both sides of the bike to locate the proper wires in the proper location. One side of it runs between the frame and radiator, on the throttle side.
kinda odd to see 3 spoke Brembo's on that bike IMHO....but nice nonetheless!
Zoom, that was the idea... Retro, get it? ;D
I built a 1994 916 in 95 or so that was much the same look. The multi spoke wheels are bellybuttons nowadays.. Like BST wheels.. So something different was in order!

you talking about the "Mule"??? the Silver and Orange flat tracker 916?
No... That bike was built by "Mule" a guy named Rickard Pollack. Very nice guy, and turns out great work!
I was saying that way back in 95 or so, I built a 916 with pretty much the same style as this bike. Naked, upright bars, etc for a client. He still has it as far as I know, in Nor Cal, in his office. I kinda styled it after that... If Ducati has built a 4V Monster in 1994/5 what would it look like (after I made it "right"")
Funny thing is that I got my first M900 in 1995, and went a totally different direction with it.
This was really my first attempt in a long time to do a bike low buck. $4000 isn't a lot to spend to make a bike really stand out in a crowd, and this one I think does just that. Subtle, like most of our stuff, but tasteful and custom enough to make you do a double take.
So now Im thinking about building more bikes along this route... 5k and less for pretty much a fully custom bike, not at the same level as our normal $50k bikes, but you get the idea.

5k and less for pretty much a fully custom bike,
An Arrow system anyone can buy, and a blacked out engine, are considered full custom?
Like your stuff but...this is just a lightly modified bike, not a full custom not even an 1/4 custom. :) Wheels gotta go. I'd rather have bellybuttons.
I like the blacked out motor and swingarm and am happy that you didn't defile it with another energy drink can.
I fundamentally object replacing a "c" with a "k" in any circumstance.
I flat out refuse to purchase any service, product, or entertainment where this occurs.
In my opinion it is the trailer park response to ebonics.
HB, This is a customer bike, so it doesn't get a RockStar can. All the shop bikes do.
Mikeb, if you think that's all that was done, we did a better job than I thought! Thanks!
Capn - There is a whole Kustom Kulture out there that has some of the most talented, if slightly misguided fabricators and they use the word freely. I steal from them, ideas and the Letter "K"

Well, then educate me. What makes it custom?
When I hear custom I think hand made one-off parts. Not bolt on mods and paint.
I like it. The wheels threw me for a loop - but a good one [thumbsup]
mitt
I liked the blacked out engine, specially how you left the outer casing in metal color.
But worst of all for me was the rusty front sprocket - I couldn't get passed that. :-\
Arai, if THAT is what you noticed, then the rest of the job is perfect.. THANKS!
I know, i know.. I media blasted the damn thing, and it rusted in about 10 min because it rained here.. Its clean and coated now... lol

Haha...well it stood out 'cause the rest of the bike was so clean.
Have you found that coating sprockets lasts? I've been thinking of doing the same thing to my bike but not sure how well the coat holds due to use.

The klan used to do that, but then superman caught on to it and they stopped.
Superman>? The klan?
I guess you lost me...
a little after WWI or WWII (I can't remember which) the clan was experiencing a resurgence and the authorities were at a loss on how to combat it.
so a dude inside gave the feds passwords and code sayings and what not, but the feds were not sure how to use em to bring em down.
at the time the superman radio show was real big so they had superman fight the Clan for a couple of weeks. when the clan members heard kids shouting these codes and passes to each other as the kids played in the street, they realized how make the beast with two backsing retarded it was and the clan went into decline.
just to reiterate, make the beast with two backsing retarded.
Arai, I have em powder coated... It wears off where the chain goes, but thats no big deal really...
Capn, I never, in a million years would have thought that I would be compared to a racist terrorist group for spelling Kustom with a K. But I guess there is something new every day!
Kustom will stick in vocabulary, but thanks for the history lesson, even if it, and the legend of Stetson Kenedy are more hype than fact. Need to read Freakanomics.. Great book.
not comparing you to them, just laying out the proud history of intentional misspelling.
