Does anyone from this group still meetup these days? I noticed that there used to be meetups at Rhodeside Grill in Arlington, but it seems like there isn't much traffic in this group on the message board lately. I'm in Chinatown BTW, so if any locals ever want to meet up, let me know.
I think money hit alot of folks to the funny point of not spending last year....maybe things will be better for folks this year...maybe not....guess we'll see since we are starting to come into season as it were...
Why don't we "throw down" and just pick a date? The nice things about Rhodeside was the outdoor seating - go there again or anyone know of a similar spot in/nearby DC? Asylum is one option of course thanks to the mcy parking, but no patio :( Anyone? Bueller? Anyone?
'Cause I'm lazy - Cap city in Shirlington. Decent'ish chance of parking out front and large outdoor seating area.

Roadside was a bit too far for me. It was all slab riding :( Im looking for a spot in MD.
I guess it's technically Mount Vernon Square: 4th and I.

Lauriel Plaza is a good place for DC. It has outdoor seating and is huge. I'm not sure about parking though. Adams Morgan usually works because of their motorcycle parking.

I'll be all for a regular meet up once I get up there, in a bit over a month.
One of the condos that I am looking at is very close to Cap City, so that would be nice for me assuming I get that place.
My choices:
1. Clarendon -- Rhodeside has parking, but there are plenty of places to park in Clarendon. I like this mexican place with big patio at the corner of Wilson & Highland -- can't remember the name but often see harley's posted up there;
2. Adam's Morgan. Dedicated m/c parking and bound to pick up more monsters and Ducs there as i see/hear them rumble by all the time;
3. Marina Cantina - SW Waterfront. Outdoor resto and bar. Great setting and lots of parking.
I organized some "noob" rides in Montgomery County last year. Posted them on dcsportbikes.net, it was nice and met a lot of people. I'll post here as well when I set up rides.
Let me also clarify that these rides are intended to be noob-friendly, but are open to everyone who will ride at a calm pace, legal passing and only where it's safe for all, 2-up friendly (I often bring my wife), etc etc.

I did some of the same with my GF and sister and we'd end up at eating destinations...

Not when the participants pass out in your front yard. ;)

the host doesn't have that much of a front yard....
now, the open plot of grass at the end of the street....THAT is a whole different story! LOL J/K

Passing out in the back yard may involve drowning...also not a great option.
What's this party you speak of?

Ok, has anyone put any more thought into this? What days and places would work for everyone? I'd like to get a weekly thing going again now that I am here.
The rub is most want to do it in their neck of the woods and the traffic has gotten worse so that contributes to the situation. Rhodeside was a good, unique spot, had a lot going for it, but most had to come a distance and now with the traffic it's worse. We tried a lot of different places before we kinda picked Rhodeside, not sure if it's a good spot anymore have not been there in awhile, kinda got tired of some folks, and felt like the mgmt there could care less and even felt unwelcome somtimes. Fortunately, I found a place in my neck of the woods and some like minded riders. I'd suggest others do the same and maybe a roving meetup once a month. I miss a bunch of the old crowd on here, but try to avoid a few, at my age guess I'm just getting cranky. - Gene
Nothing wrong with being cranky, as I think we all (I know I sure do) get that way from time to time. But at the end of the day we are all on here with/for a common bond. Besides, there are enough people on this board to keep things fresh. It's far different from where I just left, with only two or three people who would regularly come out and do anything.
So, taking a card from your suggestion, what about a rotating event that bounces from say three or four different areas? That way we could try and hit venues that would work for those of us on opposite sides of town. I bet a few of us would be wiling to travel/ride to them regardless of where they are. I'd just like to see a fairly organized event crop up, and it would also help me meet those of you that I haven't yet.
