I want to thank everybody who pitched in to save Duck-Stew's M900.
Alas, I just watched it roll out of the driveway for the last time with someone else on it's back.
Words cannot convey how devastated Stu is, especially when I told him what his Fellow DMFers were trying to do on his behalf.
I should write more, but I just can't. To everyone who tried to help me save Allegra, THANK YOU!!!
For more info, pm me.
The DMF is the best place on earth, Thank you all for your generosity. I just wish I had had my idea sooner, but.... :'(
Too little, too late... Story of my life
-Ryan
Stu, I'm sorry I let you down, pal.
You didn't fail bro.
It just didn't work out.
I'd be proud to call you my friend.
I know Stuart is.
I was floored to discover this 'secret' plot to help me through this rough patch and am very proud of the generousity of the DMF.
Unfortunately, Ryan is right. This idea was too little and too late and my taxes are due tomorrow and the loan amount on the Harley came in today and I'm REALLY underwater on that bike. I needed the money, and that's the WORST reason to sell anything. Ever.
Ryan failed to mention that if anyone wants a refund of their donation, he would be happy to send it back.
And to Ryan: I find it difficult to convey how much your efforts mean to me. You're the best! Thank you for your sincere efforts...
--Stu
Dude you did your best, only a true failure in life would say you failed.
You put forth your best effort which is more than anyone else can say and you didn't get the result you wanted. That is not failure that is just how it goes at times. Failure would be if you didn't put forth your best effort. The latter is not the case here.
Stu is extremely lucky to call you a friend.
Makes me wish for a friend like you [thumbsup]
Wow, just wow. It's amazing that you took it upon yourself to organize an attempt to help a brother out. Any one who considers you a friend is a very lucky individual indeed. The world would be a much happier/better place with more people like you in it Ryan.

Effort [thumbsup]
Ryan, you did succeed in the one area that matters more than any other
you showed up for a friend....
shit we treasure comes and goes and we leave it all behind in the end anyway
what we DO take with us is the kind of person we were and the relationships we formed
take my kick and buy yourself and Stu a bottle of something good to knock-off
damn skippy ^
[thumbsup] [beer]
Sorry to hear about your loss Stu. Even though ive never met you personally, Ive always been impressed with the bikes you create and your ability to make something beautiful even prettier. (Think that will work with my girlfriend?) [laugh]
I bet the new owner has NO IDEA what he just bought! [bang]
[bacon] [bacon] to the OP for trying to help a friend. [thumbsup]
well i figure he might still need some help with moving expenses so put it towards that
OOOooooorrrrrrrr....someone might want to throw him a kickass going away party complete with midget strippers on tiny bikes.
either way the money has been sent for his use however he see's fit.
Solid atta-boy on that one...
You did what mattered!
[thumbsup]
mitt
You're a good egg, Mr. Bacon. [thumbsup]
With my employment in flux at the moment I wasn't able to kick in. But I'm sure a could scrape up a case of beer or two to put towards a going away party. You ARE having a going away party, right? Right?
sac
I had not realized what was going on until now. Mr. Bacan is indeed a good guy. Everybody need a few of this kind of people in their lives, not just to share the good times with, but to lean on in bad times.
This story just made my day! :)
Hey All,
Thanks for all the kind words and support. I wish it could've worked out differently.
To see all the outpouring of generosity from this board, it made me realize what a great group of people we have here on the DMF! [thumbsup]
If there is anyone who would like a refund of their contribution, since I didn't pull it off, just pm me and you will get it right away.

Yes, there is a going away party for Stu. With everything going on, I just never posted it up. :P
If anyone is around
tonight and feels like making a trip to the middle of nowhere, we're throwing a shindig for Stu at:
CALIFORNIA PIZZA KITCHEN
1555 Simi Town Center Way
Simi Valley, CA 93065-0542
The ball gets rolling around 8pm....
Hope to see some of yoos guys there. 8)
[bacon]
Wish I could make it.

Make that two bottles.
Or use the money to move for now but buy a bottle later for when bacon comes to visit.
Mr Short-bus did indeed throw a nice party for "our" Stu last night! And he even managed to get some really good looking women to show up!!! It was all about Stu, but as in any gathering of bikers, it devolved into a "there I was..." marathon. And that's always a good thing! [thumbsup]

Uhm... Drama? Trauma? :-\
Was great to see you again Rob. Thanks so much for coming out last night!
Guy that bought my '95 M900?!? Didn't know what a fuel petcock was or a choke or how to use either. And he was wearing his wifes' jeans (as told by his wife.... About 11 times). [laugh]

Booooooooooo. Sad that such a nice bike will not be fully appreciated for all that it was (and wasn't).
just make sure the buyer joins the forum so we can ensure the legacy of the bike stays intact.

Yeah, this guy was a complete tool.... Out of all the things that bugged me about him, the worst was the way he treated his wife. Talked down to her, condescendingly, totally disregarded her, generally treated her like sh!t. Pissed me off. >:(
Anyway, I'll be checking Los Angeles Craigslist regularly for a custom green '95 M900. My guess is he'll want to sell it because it won't run.... because he couldn't find his petcock and starved the motor of fuel. [roll]
This is beginning to take form..... Feel-good movie [popcorn]
Group of good friends get drunk, find stupid non-loving bastard Ducati buyer, stealing the bike back and delivering it out of State to it's rightful owner.
I don't know the ending, but I think the Blues Brothers and a My-Cousin-Vinny type of lawyer needs to be in there.

It could be a sub-plot to DMF: The Movie
"We're on a mission from Stew..."
definitely not a fail mate! a friend worth more than any machine.
do believe the account's called 'moveduckstew', so that's what the funds can held do (I speak for myself of course)
the memories created with the bikes are my important than the bikes themselves!

Haven't been on the boards in months or to a bike night either. Had I known I would have pitched in...

That's a great pic Stu! I hope things are going well for you out there and I can't wait to her about the reaction your daughter had when she finds out dad is there to stay!
There really isn't an 'official' back-story thread, but here are the cliffs-notes:
I decided last month to take a job somewhere out of SoCal and an opportunity became available in Albuquerque where my Daughter lives with my ex (so I could be closer to my Daughter who's fast approaching her teenage years). To afford the move, both my HD Nightster and my green M900 had to go. Bacon-Junkie (Ryan) knew how much I loved the green M900 and he also knew that I was selling it for the $.
So, he started an underground effort to raise the $ needed for me to keep the bike... The effort itself wasn't enough to save the green M900....
So, I've moved to Albuquerque and have begun settling in here and adjusting to being currently without a running/riding bike. There are some wonderful people here who either already have or are willing to loan me thier extra bikes and since I work at the Triumph/Ducati dealership... Well, we do have loaners sometimes so it won't be a bad time until I get one of my projects going again.
The thought behind this effort of Ryan's could never, ever be classified as a FAIL even though it didn't achieve it's goal.
Many thanks to everyone who helped with this effort and a HUGE thanks to Ryan for his thoughtfulness in this.
Love you fellow DMF'ers!!!
Stuart
Miss having you around, buddy...
Glad you're settling in ok.
The peoples of the DMF are special indeed. Most of us might not ever realize how great this forum, and the members of it, really are. :)

Stu,
Your on a mission, carry on. I really enjoyed the latest creation. The Dirt Tracker is B to the A!
I would like to feature it on our site...TheFastandDirty.com (http://thefastanddirty.com).....I think it fits, don't you?
Let's talk details.
P.S. - I have a slightly gray record and do not mind putting another smudge on it for a certain green monster in the upcoming DMF movie 8)
