Since I have used so many of the bikes on here for help in modding my own, I figured it was time to start a threaD to show the progress so far, nothing out of the ordinary, mostly bolt on parts but I think it looks pretty sweet so far.
Here is a crappy blackberry pic of the bike broken down for powder/ceramic coating, updated pics to come once I have it all back together.
I won't bother writing any "how to"s on my mods, any questions just ask.
Hope you like it

FINALLY was able to get some time to put the bike back together. Here are some pictures of how it came out.

- Reservoir cap covers (from ebay)
- CW fender eliminator (powder coated black)
- Integrated tail/brake light
- LED bolt license plate lights
- Carbon Fiber front fender
- Powder coated : top triple tree, risers, CW fender eliminator, exhaust brackets, heat shields, rear sets, head light ring
- Ceramic coated exhaust headers
Future mods (open for some other ideas as well):
- remove reflectors and vinyl wrap forks

- exhaust? not sure yet, possibly CC the cans, possibly wait for boom tubes, any other ideas?
- powder coat handle bars, or go with rizoma black bars
- change out grips
- poweder coat foot pegs (not sure how this would hold up though)
- spray paint brake housings black
- and the project for next winter - powder coat the swing arm to match the rest of the bike (if i can figure out how to get it apart)
QuotePowder coated : top triple tree, risers, CW fender eliminator, exhaust brackets, heat shields, rear sets, head light ring
you mean handle bar riser? what brand? does it make contact with tank cover at full turn?
I powdercoated the stock handle bar risers so there is no change in the turning radius, no contact with the tank

What vinyl are you going to use? Got a link? I'm looking for black out my forks, too.
Thanks!
Looks great, I too wish to black out my midnight duck, where did you get your Ceramic coated exhaust headers done and how much.
Have you looked at Rizoma for black handle bars.

Lookin' good [thumbsup] Just one small suggestion, while you're figuring out what front turn signals to go with, why not remove those US-market-only spacers from the between the stockers to "tighten" up the look a little?
Plus.... I sent you a PM :)

The vinyl is Oracle 851, I found it on one of the forums here. However, I recently came across some carbon fiber type vinyl that I think would look pretty sweet on the forks but it is kind of pricey, here's the link:

I got my pipes CC'd and all the other stuff PC'd at Powder Coating Alternatives in Greenland, NH. Total for everything was $400, I think the pipes alone were around $200.

I tried to shorten these up when I had the headlight taken apart for PC'ing but couldn't figure out what size bolt I needed to replace the stock bolt. Do you know the specs of the bolt that would work without the spacer?

I've persoanally used this stuff on my 696 forks and it works extremelly well...

I'd never thought of covering my frame decals with it tho as the original poster suggests...great idea! I have some left over so I may just do that...

How is your vinyl holding up? I always wondered if they are susceptible to rock chips and UV.

Use the bolts from the rear turn signals.

I've only got about 600km on the bike with the vinyl but I haven't noticed any rock chips. According to the manufacturer of the vinyl it is coated with a UV proctective layer and is supposed to last 9 years.
Here's a blurb from the e-Bay ad...
-When applied correctly to the appropriate hard surface the film is very durable and scratch resistant.
-When heated and stretched it can be applied to extreme curved surfaces with a little patience and work.
-The film is coated with a UV protective layer which will last up to nine years outdoors.
-Once applied and bonded to your surface you may clean it and polish it with any type of cleaning agent that is used for painted surfaces.
gogo carbon exhausts :)

Use the bolts from the rear turn signals.
Thanks for the tip fletch, I will try that out this weekend and let you know how it works out.
For anyone looking to shorten up the front turnsignals, using the stock rear bolts will work, you just have to use two spacers (front and rear) on each side in order for the blinders to fit snug against the headlight.
More pictures and mods to come, I will get a video of the integrated lights functionality since I have seen a lot of posts about that around these forums.
I realized I missed some small mods in the list so here is an update

- spray painted air intake screens and wind screen black
- removed front turn signal spacers
- reservoir brackets without mirror mounts
- ASV levers

I ordered my vinyl wrap from stickercity.com
Great product and with 600 miles or so it's holding up really well.
any try the carbon fiber vinyl on the forks? I am thinking that would look great but haven't been able to find any pictures of bikes to see how it looks.

I've thought about doing this. I don't see any issue with doing it -- should act pretty much like any other vinyl application though you will need to use heat to get it to mold correctly over the lips etc. Carbon Fiber Gear.com did a write up about using some spray clear-coat to get the glossy look to it... it comes pretty flat.... but I think for the forks, flat would look awesome! Do it and take pics!!!!
It has been way to nice out around Boston to take the bike apart again so I've been busy riding it. I ordered some tint spray for the front blinkers, as soon as that comes in I am going to shorten up the front blinkers and tint the lenses, I may also tint the head light depending on how much it effects the light quality of the blinkers. Pics to follow as soon as I get the work done.
lookin good!

Did you order Night Shades?

Did you order Night Shades?
Ordered the VHT Night Shades plus the clear coat from Amazon. I tried it out on my scrapped rear blinkers first, to make sure it comes out alright. However, I think I may have gone a little heavy on the first coat because when light shines through the dark you can see cracks in the shaded lense. I will sand it down and try to go a little lighter on the coats tonight and let you know how it comes out
Got the blinkers all sanded down and resprayed, ended up using 4 very light coats of the VHT Night Shades and 2 coats of the clear coat. I also shortened up the blinkers while I was at it. Let me know what you think.

Does it affect the brightness much?
Looking good.
They look solid black in the top picture.
Did you spray the outside of your indicators???? If you use nightshades on the inside of the lens you do not need clear coat as the plastic on the outside retains its original shine?

Brightness is only slightly less than stock, so they are plenty bright for traffic to see

I sprayed the outside of the lenses, the can says not to use on the inside of lenses ( not sure why) so I played it safe, plus it would have been much more difficult to get an even coat on the inside of the lense, if they ever chip or streak I will just sand the coating off and respray (I have already done this once as I screwed up the first application).
UPDATE: I have moved and now must sell the bike to buy a car. See details below:
