Title: Is there a kind soul running an anonymous proxy want to help a bro out?
Post by: ducatiz on April 15, 2010, 05:42:07 PM
My new firm has websense.

It blocks everything.  EVERYTHING.

I am going nuts.

Websense blocks all the known commercial proxies like anonymouse or relakks.  i need something running on someone's fast pipe in their basement with just an IP address.

help

I'm assuming you are a lawyer in a law firm, although firm can mean anything.  Still strange that you cant use the internet in 2010

It's not that he can't use the internet. It's that he can't get to any of the sites worth getting to. Like here.  :P

You don't wanna set up your own?  This is a good free one http://www.proxyplus.cz/ (http://www.proxyplus.cz/) - set up a dynDNS name and you're set.

Because then he'd be doing things at work that aren't work. Which would be why his work blocks all things fun.

My filters at work are VERY strong.

I could never access anonymous browsing at work, that could only be done at home.

Tizzy - email me from your work addy so you can keep schooling me on life.

Hey, at our hospital the filter just blocked the electronic prescribing website while I was training other doctors on it. I've complained about the degree of ridiculousness of the blacklist before, but that really takes the cake, especially since that's our hospital's choice of e-prescribing application.

^^^

I sort of ran into the same thing.

Our "filter gurus" were experimenting with blocking banking websites so people can't do personal banking while at work.

Yeah, we're that strict around here.

Well, in the process they blocked my Wells Fargo website which allows me to control all of our bank accounts, check balances, send payments, etc etc.

Luckily IT was able to open it back up for me rather quickly.

The Bright Sparks that run our IT section blocked out all the Fun stuff also about 12 months ago
but they forgot that being a Retail Electronics Store we are Supplied free WiFi from Cisco in store.
So now all the Staff have starting accessing anything they want through the wireless hub
in the Store through there iPhones, iPod touch and other WiFi enabled gear.

Dickheads didn't think of that now did they.  [laugh]
