I crashed on Memorial day---finally getting around to posting it up
As much as I would love to blame it on this, that or the other thing it was 100% my fault.
I was following my husband on his SV and a friend on an R6 on the Crest. Jim had a car in front that pulled over for us, I did a quick check behind because I knew there were bikes coming up on us. Since I tend to ride a speed limit pace up there I get passed a lot. Ocassionally I get a crazy pass so I do tend to keep an eye on what behind me. As I was accelerating to go around the car I was caught out both by them pulling back in and the rider in front of me slowing down. I grabbed way too much front brake and down I went. I got up swearing a bluestreak because I was so mad at myself. Also, when I looked back to the front I fixated and wasn't nearly as close to the R6 as I felt like.
In hindsight; my attention was split when it should have been totally in front of me, I shouldn't have been surprised by the car- it wasn't really that unpredictable and I certainly never should have locked it up - I know better
So yes, I crashed at the speed limit in a straight piece of road [roll]
The bike crashed pretty well. The bars are bent, the tank is dented and I need a new mirror other than its in good shape. We checked it and decided to head down. My husband rode the Monster down and I took his SV.
As for me, I'm pretty much OK. We did go to the ER because of my knee was cut and my wrist was sore. I have stiches in the knee, Its not actually roadrash but a three inch cut. The ER called me back Tuesday to let me know that the wrist that they said was just bruised was in fact broken. I now have a cast which is a huge pain in the butt.
First crash on the street in 26,000 miles :-[ :'(

Glad you are ok
Craching is no fun
Sorry to hear it April, but glad you're ok! [thumbsup]
Heal up soon.
Woo-Hoo! You're going to be OK!!!!!!
Sorry about the crash, but sounds like you've learned from it already which is very important. The bike can be fixed so fret not... Just plan out your healing and don't cut the cast off early (even though you may want to).
Sorry about the mishap April,
--Stuart
...yeah, your ok and thats what counts moast!!!!
BTW you must be the 100th person that gets checked at this or that OR and gets miss-diagnosed a fracture >:(
...if i ever need an OR i think ill have them airlift me to Mexico ;D
April,
Sorry to hear about the accident. Take care of yourself and heal up quick.
BTW 26K with out one was quite an accomplishment but they are called accidents for a reason.
Glad to hear your alright [thumbsup]
You know what you did wrong and what to improve on so your ahead of the game.
Get well and time to buy better pants ;D
Glad to hear you're okay. Please heal up quickly so you can come out to the track and do some proper crashing! It's actually quite fun to slide along on the asphalt without the risk of an oncoming SUV.
Happy healing (wherever your cast is).
Lester
glad to hear you're relatively OK.
take care.
Andy
Sorry about your accident April, heal up quick, and you'll be back out there before you know it.

here's to a speedy recovery. [beer]
Matt
Thanks guys!
I just got it checked this morning, I'll have the cast off my wrist in another 2 weeks :D
...hmmm that means one of the following:
a) your companion will have to do double shifts
b) you better stock up on batteries
;D
is that wrong?
Hey April,
Sorry to hear the news...good news on the cast coming off soon...
Take care, wishing you a healthy recovery.
jc
2 weeks?!? That's awesome!!! 8)
Glad you're OK [thumbsup]
If you need a right side mirror or stock Clutch/Brake levers, let me know & I could send them to ya or have Red Baron pick em' up & drop em off. Left one already found a home in Utah.
Sorry to hear of your mishap, but it sounds like it's working out as well as can be expected.
Take care. :)
It hurts my brain every time I hear of an accident. [bang] As most everyone has eluded to, this was a relatively minor accident. As you know, it could have been much more serious. Not to downgrade it because ANY unscheduled get-off is shitty. >:( Hope you're feeling great soon. [cheeky]
Steve
April- holy crappolla! You put down the bike?! I'm very glad you are ok! If you's need any help putting her back together again, let us know. We have lots and lots of experience in putting back together girl crashed Monstros....
Today I nearly bit the dust on the Crest... I had a pair of Subarus come around a blind corner, one of them entirely in my lane. I thought I was done for for real this time. Fortunately the asshat in the Subi swerved and hopefully ate some rock wall! Life is scarey some times!
Seriously girl,
Get in touch, lots of wierdness here, and we (your friends) are here to hepp you.
William
April.....
Trust you are getting much better by now.
Very sorry to hear about this silly crash....too bad.
:(
Good thing, you are not hurt so bad.
Do you still plan on your ride up to Monterey for Lacuna Seca Moto GP ?
???
Hope so.
Get better....you hear now !?
;)
I just got my bars back from Suburban Machinery - all fixed now.
Gus--Thanks for the offer! my levers are good and I still have the stock mirrors. I'm putting Napoleans back on, I really like them plus they acted as a slider.
William--my pretty bike isn't so pretty anymore :-[ Thanks for the offer, I really appreciate it. The bike actually crashed better than I did. Seeing all the bikes on the road and not being able to ride is driving me crazy! Everyone at work is like....bummer, you've got to drive. That must suck. [laugh]
Yes, I am still planning on riding up to Laguna.
glad you're okay...speedy recovery.
good thing you and your monster are okay. we all learn from our mistakes...
so how soon till you and the bike are road worthy? You need a shake down on the Crest me thinks!
I'm back....
Did a short evening shake down ride on Friday, since that worked out it was time to go fro a real ride ;D Hit the Crest on Sat. Man, I missed riding. :D
congrats! [clap]
Eeeexcelllent! [thumbsup]
