Title: replacing gauge cluster on 2000 M750?
Post by: Ursoboostd on April 19, 2010, 02:52:23 PM
Any help would be awsome. I searched and didn't find much. I love my new purchase, but the gauge cluster or lack there of is lame.  Are there any clusters that I can replace mine with easily?           -Wade-

I upgraded to a Road Racing unit from Stuart at Spareshack back in the day, still have the original stock unit minus the speedometer which went into the RR cluster. But it sounds as though you're looking for a different cluster, not a replacement stocker.

Do I really need a tach? Probably not, but I despised the stock unit. Didn't care much for the chrome DP cluster with three dozen gauges, either.

Yeah, I probably don't "need" a tach, but I would like one.  Have you guys seen anybody retrofit newer gauges on an older bike?     -Wade-

The new gauges are all digital and the old gauges used analog/ mechanical signals. Spend the cash on a gauge from Motogadget. They have several to pick from and you can get several with a tach. The come with a pick-up for the speedo and they use a signal  from the negative side of a coil for the tach. in addition to the turn signal, nutral and high beam lights, they have a universal warning light so you can still get the low fuel warning or it can be used for the oil pressure light.

Motogadget has some really good stuff but it's really quite expensive. I think the cheapest gauge is around $300 US then you have to buy or fab mounting brackets.

Although I just did a quick search on ebay for stockers and the asking price is close to the same as the motogadget stuff. So...do you want stock of custom?!
