Title: AMA Road Atlanta
Post by: Spidey on April 19, 2010, 05:23:15 PM
Anyone watch it?  Seriously good racing.  Nothing like watching them going 4 wide in turns lap after lap after lap in the 600cc class.  I might have to start watching AMA.

Great races both days. The Daytona  Sportbike class had some awesome racing. My shop is
racing an 848 in that class this season. Jake Holden is the rider. They broke early on sat., but
finished 9th on sun.

The 600 race was great. At around 5 laps to go, 4 wide into turn 10 and I'm cringing watching it, practically the entire front group swapped positions around. I might have to give the old AMA a second chance.  [thumbsup]

Yeah had it recorded and watched it last night.  Like others have said, it may be worth watching some more this year.  Good stuff.

I've caught a coupla superbike races this season and they're good stuff too.  Close racing with lots of backin' it in.  Speaking of which, I watched the second Daytona Sportbike (did I get that name right?  Whatever they're calling the 600s) and it featured one of the sickest passes I've ever seen -- Coery West going from 5th to 1st completely sideways.  Insane.

Correct, Daytona Sportbike. That class is the shit. That was a helluva pass.

I caught it.  It looked to me as though there is a huge performance gap amongst the riders.  Some guys had some real talent in the front of the pack, and it was a good battle towards the end.

Did I say 5th to 1st?  I meant 6th to 1st.  Holy fack.   :o

The whole race was like that.  [thumbsup]

Yup, that was exactly the moment I was talking about.

Racing wasn't bad, but the event was definately less than previous years, No Duc Truck, lack of food vendors, and Vendor Village took all of 30 seconds to browse through.  I did enjoy the Duc and Yami sound. What the heck happened to the Superbike class. Missing that scream of years past.
