Title: Model Comparison (includes 796) Post by: Spider on April 20, 2010, 10:36:31 AM ha! this is turning into the old 'model comparison' thread on TOB....really good fun to pull out the old catalogs and log the data:

Would love a 2003 catalog! Title: Re: Model Comparison (includes 796) Post by: vossy on April 20, 2010, 01:05:17 PM Man, my brain hurts after reading all that.

Title: Re: Model Comparison (includes 796) Post by: suzyj on April 20, 2010, 11:37:08 PM I'm confused. How'd they get 17 more HP out of 1 cc when they went from the 695 to the 696?
Title: Re: Model Comparison (includes 796) Post by: goldFiSh on April 21, 2010, 12:43:33 AM From memory, they're actually same displacement, but a completely new engine design, inc heads and fueling system. the model numbers are always displacement...
Title: Re: Model Comparison (includes 796) Post by: Six95 on April 21, 2010, 12:46:45 AM I'm confused. How'd they get 17 more HP out of 1 cc when they went from the 695 to the 696? Probably a typo. The M695 should be 73HP The M695 engine was the highest output Vs capacity aircooled 2V ducati motor until the 696 came out. Title: Re: Model Comparison (includes 796) Post by: Mr.S2R on April 21, 2010, 12:49:12 AM 696 had better designed heads - always happens in the motoring industry - get more HP by better designed heads.
Title: Re: Model Comparison (includes 796) Post by: Six95 on April 21, 2010, 12:50:16 AM Probably a typo. The M695 should be 73HP The M695 engine was the highest output Vs capacity aircooled 2V ducati motor until the 696 came out. oh, and the last of the 620's (injected models) were actually 63HP. Title: Re: Model Comparison (includes 796) Post by: ungeheuer on April 21, 2010, 01:11:55 AM From memory, they're actually same displacement, but a completely new engine design, inc heads and fueling system. the model numbers are always displacement... Um..... ??? So since the model number always reflects the displacement, and since the 696 and 695 both have the same displacement..... is the 695 696cc's or is the 696 695cc's or vice versa? Or are they both 696cc's?? Or.... are they both 695cc's??? Hmm??? ;DI think you mean that the model numbers are always the displacement.... except when they're not. The 696's extra 1cc was marketing-speak I do believe. In fact the bore x stroke (and therefore the capacity) are identical. But you're right about the new head design and the switch to siemens fuelling. Title: Re: Model Comparison (includes 796) Post by: Spider on April 21, 2010, 01:39:40 AM oh, and the last of the 620's (injected models) were actually 63HP. done, thanks, didn't know [thumbsup] Title: Re: Model Comparison (includes 796) Post by: suzyj on April 21, 2010, 10:39:27 AM Probably a typo. Title: Re: Model Comparison (includes 796) Post by: Two dogs on April 21, 2010, 01:54:02 PM Sooo how many xtra ponies with a Termi kit?
Is it an average or does it depend on the model? Title: Re: Model Comparison (includes 796) Post by: Six95 on April 21, 2010, 04:51:12 PM Dez,
PM me your email address. From what I've seen that it's all different for the model range I'll send you a graph of a stock vs Termi Kit M695. (termis, air filter, open airbox and ECU). Top end its only a dismal 1hp, however between 4500-7500rpm there is a very sexy bulge Title: Re: Model Comparison (includes 796) Post by: Spider on April 21, 2010, 09:20:34 PM Probably a typo.
