Title: Good thing I'm luckier than I am smart . . .
Post by: INFIDEL on April 21, 2010, 04:16:11 PM
Halfway to work ~55MPH on 99W stab the brakes . . . squish . . .   :o

Bad enough  Ignored the leak on Sunday and kept riding spiritedly anyway.  Then to ignore it in the hopes of making it to Saturday to try to fix . . . [roll]

Engine braking and the rear brakes aren't perfect but they work in a pinch.

I had the seal kinked funny.  Fixed that, added more fluid and they worked just fine for the ride home.  I'll have to keep my brain engaged and keep checking on it for the next few days.  Hoping the luck continues and that fixed it.  Not looking forward to spending so much $ getting the brakes fixed. [bang]

Just bleed the brakes and get the bubbles out... you should be fine.

+1.  Did you swap out the pads already?

He was spewing crap onto the dash... not sure if he soaked the pads... they may still be good.

You can clean out the pads with something like carbon tetrachloride.  Better wash the gauges down with lots of soap and water, lest this fate befall ye: http://ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=37100.0 (http://ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=37100.0)

Wait a minute...  water...  gauges... never get an Italian motorcycle wet on purpose...

Yer screwed :(

Just scrub them down as best you can.  Brake fluid does rude things to plastic.

I wouldn't even try to clean the pads

they are inexpensive enough

Just replace them

I've got a set around 80% if you want them
