Title: Conrace/Racecon Products Carbon Fibre parts review-Complete RUBBISH!
Post by: BlackKat on April 22, 2010, 02:38:22 PM
So I knew with my 99 Monster I would have difficulty finding exactly the parts I want. Came across a guy on ebay that seemed to offer some nice parts at a realistic price considering. He sells by "carbondude1" and the logo Racecon Products is used in his ads. He offered me a package deal on the front fender, front sprocket cover and solo seat. i figured that they certainly couldn't be as nice as OEM stuff, but at minimum, they would match each other.

When I opened the box after the 13 day trip from Australia, I was somewhat surprised the finish was quite nice. That was when it ended.

I went to mount the fender up...not only did the holes not line up, it rested, crooked no less on my stock size front tire...TIGHTLY.

I then proceeded to attempt the mounting of the sprocket cover...the holes were more than 5mm off. The shape matched my stock one...closely...but no cigar here either.

Lastly, I went to put on the solo cover...its about 7mm off from left to right and not even close to symmetrical.

I know...EBAY! I should know better, but I was out of options and the guys has good feedback. 4 emails sent in 48 hours with no response, yet he was VERY attentive when I was ordering the parts.

My review...complete dog crap!

I can do without the solo and sprocket covers, but does anyone know where I might find a front fender?

Just a public service for others with older bikes looking for a good source...this guy Peter is NOT it!

He's famous for selling carbon tanks of questionable nature.....changes his ebay name frequently and has gotten more than a few people on duc/ms, speedzilla, etc.  See if you can use ebay to get your money back (they are very consumer friendly) by telling them nothing fits, etc...

Contact Dario from Dariuslab (info@dariuslab.com)  He makes CF parts for just about all models of Ducs.  He was on vacation but I think he is back to making parts again.  I've bought several pieces from him and have been very pleased.   Here's his ebay store link:  http://shop.ebay.com/dariuslab/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg= (http://shop.ebay.com/dariuslab/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=)

Sorry for your misfortune.  Do as Taft says.  I've been very happy with Ebay/Paypal resolving my disputes on Ebay.

Are you only in the market for CF? I may know someone looking to get rid of a front fender. It's off an '01 M750. It's in great condition but I'm sure you'd need to paint to fit your needs.

Thanks guys. The 2001 is different than the 99.

I've sent 5 emails now and been professional on them with no response. [bang]

Sorry for your experience.

I've had good experience with eBay resolution and in that marketplace, the onus is on us to make sure that bad sellers are weeded out.  Go for it.

Cheers

I thought Jeff didn't have the front fender for the older 750s.  If not here's another place (German) that does carry a lot of the harder to find DP parts though maybe a bit $$$.

Sorry to hear that, he has the worst reputation but people still buy from him.
His CF is absolute crap, he actually has a Monster on ebay for sale here talking about his special CF parts.

As someone said to me a while back, buy once and buy well.
When it's too good to be true it usually isn't.

Hope you get a resolution.  [thumbsup]

I can't understand how he has like 2000 good feedbacks..maybe the stuff he has for asian bikes fits better? I have sent him multiple emails and have had NO RESPONSE WHAT SO EVER.

I was tinkering with the bike again today. The front sprocket cover MIGHT be able to be tweeked to fit. The holes will have to be hogged out and one of the edges can be ground down with a dremmel...

The fender...just no way in hell! It actually rests on the stock size front tire.

The solo cover is just complete crap too....

UGH! JUST PISSED!

....so I actually got a response from Peter. He is in disbelief that his products don't fit, but he is willing to refund my money. I guess I will box them back up and hope that when they arrive in Australia I actually get a refund.....

Updates to come...

Any issues you have can be solved through eBay & Paypal. I've been trying to buy a rear headlight for my Golf and I've already returned two because they had cracks or broken mounts.

Make sure you're refunded the return shipment costs! There is no reason for you to have bear the expense of it. If the seller refuses to, then go through Paypal, they will.

ok, problem corrected.

Peter did respond. said he was out of town, away from his I Phone..etc. Couldn't believe that his products didn't fit. gave the return address. I packed the 3 pieces up and sent them on the way at my cost. $37.00 out of pocket, but then keeping them will do me no good what so ever.

Peter followed up with me asking if I shipped them. I provided tracking info and a few hours later he refunded my full payment.

Lost $37.00 on the deal, but got my money refunded and didn't completely screwed.

Peter seems like an ok guy. Maybe I just got the wrong stuff shipped to me?

Thanks for the support and advice guys!

meh. for some things.

No offense to Shift-Tech, but they don't have many offerings for other (older Ducati) bikes listed on their site.

I actually have to say, for some things, DP cf is fine.

I've gotten some of mine at the local dealer (AMS), others through Motowheels when I didn't live near a decent dealership, and still others from Jeff_H & MonsterParts.

Front fenders have changed over the years so a wrong fender could have happened... sprocket cover should have gone on fine - the issue was the part was incorrectly drilled. Likewise, the seat covers in my experience are universal for the pre-696/1100 monsters. I've had "lots" of cowls over the years - OEM, a custom, a DP Monster-Cup Cafe Cowl and a DP carbon (oem shape) cowl. None were year/model specific...

Sorry about the bad luck. eBay stuff is a risk. I'm always tempted by titanium or carbon bits and bolts from vendors, until I see that its coming from the far east, such as Hong Kong. Perhaps it works, but if it doesn't, who wants to be out that kind of money?!
