Title: Streetfighter
Post by: scduc on April 24, 2010, 05:22:20 PM
So, I'm at the dealer today and I'm looking at the streetfighter and notice how small the switch covers are. They really blend into the grips. I'm wondering how complicated it would be to swap them out for the stock one on my 08' Monster. Maybe I can find a recked one.

i hadn't paid special attn to that feature yet, but its all about the connectors unless you are feeling like cutting/splicing.

I have looked into this. The connectors are compared to the 06 monster are definitely different. Cutting and splicing or wiring in new connectors wouldn't be too big of a deal. Good luck finding a set though. I have been looking since the streetfighter came out and still haven't came across a set. There is a shop on ebay that are selling new right side switches for around $80 which I assume is cheaper than through a dealer.

I've seen the one on E-bay, and thought that it was around $60. My guess is that the other would not be too much more. I will talk to my dealer next week and see what the set would cost.

I do like the look of those.  This idea might have to go on the future mods list.

I don't want just the switches, I want the whole bike... :-\

looks like it will still be easy for me to reach over and hit your kill switch just as the light turns green. [evil] [laugh]
Title: Re: Streetfighter controls on Monster?
Post by: Mojo S2R on May 06, 2010, 02:50:07 AM
Has anybody looked into this anymore?  I've been looking at all pictures I can find of the controls and it looks like the left side controls are missing the throttle advance (choke to some of you, though it's not really a choke).  I would really like to find out if this would work as I currently can't fully turn left because the leftside controls would hit the tank if I hadn't adjusted the steering stops.  This also means I can't turn it enough to be able to lock the steering to the left.

my bike is the same way mojo.

The street fighter looks like it has the same feature as the S2R1000 with the stepper motor to control idle air.

which means i can get one [evil]

How hard would it be to make this work on the S2R800?

The fast idle lever is a mechanical device isnt it?

If thats the case anything that pulls on that cable will do. A twisting knob, that you clamp onto your bike or a lever, you just need to get creative.

I came across some thread either here or another forum that talked about a fast-idle button on the throttle assembly... it's just a button added to a small piece that faces the rider... makes perfect sense but I dont know if anyone found a cheaper way to get ahold of one than buying the full assembly off of ebay.

The new Hyper's have the smaller boxes as well. My only concern is the multi function of some of the left side switches. Cant imagine that that would be too hard to figure out thought. I'm not going to have the fast idle issue, but i bet there is a way around that. Just need to get smarter heads involved.

I used a classic choke lever attached to the frame (next to where I moved the ignition key) for my fast idle adjustment

Works great and cleans up the handlebars [thumbsup]

I've got one on my monster.  It's from the 748/916 line.  It gets rid of the big chunky thing on the left side.
