I used to ride a bike with a more aggressive position, as well as race bicycles, so I'm used to having my bars low. The stock bar position on my monster feels a little too upright for me.
So I've been trying to decide between LSL clip-ons (with 1" rise), Rizoma clip-ons (with matching top triple) or Suburban machinery M3 bars.
In any case, I thought I'd see how flipping my bars went, to see if that provided something close to the position I want.
In summary it doesn't.

The height is good, and I even like the droop (vertical) angle, even though it's a little on the extreme side. But there's practically no setback (horizontal) angle. The bars are a long way forward, and with the unnatural angle I fear riding like this would destroy my wrists in no time.
Looking at the gap between tank and bar at full lock illustrates the problem:

This should be a lot closer to the tank.
Oh well - back to trying to decide between LSL, Rizoma and Suburban Machinery.
Just a few sweep back numbers for you.....
- stock S*R tapered bars 18 degrees (maybe yours are the same?)
- Rizoma about the same as stock and no down angle (not a lot of adjustability)
- Suburban bars 24 degrees (6 degrees is more than it sounds)
- clip ons up to 45 degrees depending on how much less steering radius you'll settle for and also how much rise is in them. Usually you'll be able to get 30 without sacrificing too much steering radius.
The Suburban and clip ons angle is enabled by the forward mounting position of the bars (in front of the fork).
The Superbikes have a little more than 30, I think.
For bling triples, as always SpeedyMoto (if they fit your bike)
I flipped mine and didn't like it. Went with S.M. bars and they are perfect even after 4 1/2 hour ride.
dont forget the Tommaselli clip ons.. they allow infinate adjustment.
I thought I got mine from monsterparts? but I cant see them there now.. Maybe thet arn't available/hard to get now.
Check out Bike Gear Wharehouse (BGW) they have 50 mm clip-ons I think they are on special (or was that the levers) and they are only up the road at Smeaton Grange, which is just around the corner from where I work, so if you need anything picked up.

Good to know! I ordered SM bars for my Streetfighter. Apparently, they never sold it to anyone with a SF yet so I'm going to be their guinea pig. I am hoping they will arrive before June 12 as I'm going on a long ride up the Sierras. We will be putting on 300+ miles/day so this would be a love it or hate it test.
I'm using motocross bars on my Monster (Renthal's for Yamaha Raptor) and Apex manufacturing clipons with risers on my Yamaha WR enduro. The Apex clipons are nice. I wish I didn't have to spend the money, but there were clearance issues with a steering damper on the WR and the Apex people modded their clipons for me. Great service and very good hardware.
