Title: New (to me) Multistrada, with new mods, and pics!
Post by: BellissiMoto on May 02, 2010, 09:57:33 AM
I was scouting for possible locations for our shop in Knoxville last week when I came across a beauty.

A 2004 Multistrada 1000DS with bags, Termi exhaust, riding lights, comfort seat, hand guards, etc... and I just had to have it.

Thankfully I always plan ahead for just such an occasion, and had my gear packed in the car (which the girlfriend was now stuck driving home) so I was able to enjoy riding her back across the Appalachians to Greenville.

Anyways, I enjoy having a slipper clutch in my 1098 waaaayyy to much to not pop one into the multi (that and I scared the crap out of myself on the second turn of my ride home as I skipped the back tire out wide to the right), and so I could give you guys better feedback on our budget line of clutches, I chose the DucaBike 6 spring in black, with Blue springs and retainers, and added an STM Hi-Flow clutch cover.

I've also got a Zero Gravity Sport Touring windscreen on the way for it at the moment, and I can't wait to put it on when it shows up in about a week either.

Very nice!   [thumbsup]

I don't wanna know if you like the DucaBike slipper!  I want to enjoy the EVR for at least a little while! [moto]

Don't worry, there's no questioning that the EVR is superior to the Ducabike, and honestly I'm not 100% sure if I like it just yet, but that's because I've been (and still am) spoiled by EVR clutches in my superbikes and previous monsters.

The Blue springs with the STM Hi-Flow cover sure do look good though!

Is the STM cover cast aluminum?

The poor surface finish and mold lines, I'd say so.

Girls always flock to the SBK first, but I'm sure Amy will be up for taking a few pictures with it sooner or later.

Well, I haven't found a good deal on a Monster in a while, but the Multi's are cheap and very useful.

I mean, whether I want to ride a thousand plus miles, or go for a quick spin to grab some chinese takeout, groceries, shop at the mall, etc.., It's the bike.

When is it not the bike? When I want to be a pure hooligan, fill my need for adrenaline, race the friends, hit the twisties, or anything else more spirited and evil - thats when my 1098 shines!

I ride everything hard (dirtbikes, pedalbikes, SBK's, girlfriend (giggity), etc...), the only difference is when I choose which one to take out for the ride based on the type of ride I have planned.

In fact, I just got back from about a 75 mile trip on the Multi to the north to deliver some new Knox handroid gloves and a slipper clutch to a friend of mine before we installed them, grabbed some food and then I rode home.

Could I have done that on my 1098? Yes.

Would I have? Hell no, I've learned that backpacks suck on a SBK, and since my 1098 barely gets better mileage than the girlfriends car I would have simply driven.

However on the Multi I pull nearly 65 mpg's at 80mph down the highway, comfortably, with parts squarely inside one saddlebag.

Which basically is to say that... I understand my Multi, and I like her.

Nice bike. That's a great color. Wish they'd offer the Multi 1200 in that color.

Ya, they're not the prettiest...but it changed riding for me. Made me realize that while I love the look of Monsters, SBKs, and similar...I like to ride upright sportbikes (see my sig for the latest  ;D).  [thumbsup] [thumbsup]

Triple J, your bike is freakin sweet.

I'm also amazed you did it to a perfect Multi, and not a crashed one like most people... that takes some determination and confidence!
