As my wife pointed out, how are we supposed to believe they're evil? They come in Ducati Anniversary Red, Giallo Ducati, Pearl White, Blu Italia, Scrambler Orange...
I liked them better as malignant pepperpots.
Why do I even know what a Dalek is? [bang]
[laugh]

In a way, it's probably for the best that there's no such thing as watching all the back episodes. The series reboot in 2005 with Christopher Eccleston as the Ninth Doctor was quite good, but that's in part due to Billy Piper as Rose.
My favorite Doctor is David Tennant, the Tenth Doctor, who now defines the character for me. For years it was Tom Baker as the Fourth Doctor, but that's probably because he was on during my most nerdish years.
Thus far, Matt Smith is pretty good and I'm quite liking Karen Gillan as Amy Pond.

We just started watching from the start of the 2005 revival.
[thumbsup]
If you like Dr Who, I have to highly recommend the Dr Who spin off -Torchwood (which I recently learned is an anagram for Dr Who... some things I just don't notice :) )
Yeah, Torchwood was pretty good. Too bad it's ended. The Sarah Jane Chronicles sucked big-time, though.
I was sorry to see TW end as well.
I saw the SJC but haven't seen it yet.
I'll skip it based on your rave review.
I haven't been able to get into the new Dr. Who. Not sure what it is. Maybe the special effects aren't cheesy enough.
That said, for me, the Tom Baker years were the shit. [thumbsup]
Yeah...
Tom was the only Doctor I liked.
I don't watch any more.
ex ter min ate ;D
haven't seen any of the new season yet,

So, keep that voice and cadence in your mind, then try to imagine it saying "would you care for some tea?"
If you can't imagine it, just watch the most recent episode and you'll be able to hear it.
Am I too young for this, or did this become popular during my 2 1/2 year stint in Korea? I'm usually pretty up to date on stuff but I'm completely lost on this one.

It started in 1963.
Did you blink? ;D
These are not the nerds you're looking for...
Move along.

I dunno - Doctor Who has been on TV longer than I've been watching TV, and I'm 48. They stopped making new episodes for a while (during which most Americans watched Tom Baker episodes over and over) then the BBC "rebooted" the series very successfully 5 years ago. There are now zillions of watchers who don't even know it goes back farther than that.
It was on AFN when I lived in Germany a third of a century ago, and on AFNK when my wife was in Korea at the same time, alongside 2 year-old episodes of M*A*S*H and Saturday mornings of Crusader Rabbit from the '50's.
Maybe you did blink. Maybe it's just that you're not quite as pathetic a nerd as some of us. "Popular" is a relative term. When I was in band in high school, playing Dungeons and Dragons during long boring stretches (defined as when the team was on the field or court playing) was "popular"...

I was in a medical staff meeting a while back when our new general surgeon was talking about an in-office procedure and describing the pertinent anatomical landmarks.
Apparently, I'm exactly the wrong age.
Those a few years older or younger than I just looked puzzled, while those about my age hissed and groaned when I made a pass with my hand and said "these are not the 'rrhoids you're looking for."

Yeah, don't EVER let my wife see that picture.
I'm not feeling the new guy...then again how can you follow up tennant?!
I actually like the new series, as for TW stopped watching when the men started kissing [roll]
