Title: Areas near San Bernardino with good riding? Post by: Billyzoom on May 02, 2010, 08:33:35 PM Hey, everyone.
Just got my bike a few months ago, and hadn't ridden before that in maybe 7 years. I'm still getting comfortable on my new bike (07 S4rs) and have to ride pretty carefully, due to some health issues, but I want to keep riding and gradually building up my comfort and skill level so I can push to a sporting, but still sane pace. I also would prefer to not ride where there are tons of the super aggressive racers all out, trying to push the envelope. My problem is I don't know good rides anywhere near here. I'm right near Glen Helen, where the 15 and 215 meet. If any of you have any tips or would like to go on a ride that would probably be at a slower pace than you're accustomed to, please let me know. Just coming off wrist surgery, so hoping to be able to ride within a few weeks. Thanks. Joel Title: Re: Areas near San Bernardino with good riding? Post by: orangelion03 on May 03, 2010, 03:35:52 PM You have some excellent roads in you area Billy! Anything that takes you up to Big Bear is pretty sweet. I always enjoyed the back way up to Arrowhead via highway 138 past Silverwood Lake. You can make one fantastic loop by combining 138, 18, and 38. Once it's open, you can take Angeles Crest west from Wrightwood via Lone Pine Canyon Road.
Head southeast along the 10, and exiting in Banning, take 243 to Idyllwild. From there you can head towards the 74 and take it west to Hemet, or south to Palm Desert... or take 371 down to Anza and Aguanga. |
