I need some advice on how to remove the tank as to get to teh battery on my wife's nes 696. It seems that there is a fuel tank level sensor plug on the inside of the aluminum frame that must be detached before sliding the tank back. The only issue is I can't hardley see it, let alone touch it. I've seen posts where older 696 models did not require this plug to be undone, but mine states that it is a must, and it is also feeling like I have to when I move the tank back.
A couple of steps down the list is to disconnect the lambda sensor but the picture does not look like anything I can see on the bike. Can anyone give me a hand here?
The old S2R required the removal of hte seat and unlatching the tank to do this job......progress?
there are a few simple steps to get the to battery.
you don't have to unhook any wires, but the lambda sensor wire may be clipped to the underside of the fuel cell, so you have to just unclip it, i reattached mine to the subframe to avoid that step in the future.
here's a thread

Great thanks! [thumbsup]
Put some battery tender leads on there before you button it back up. (our shop does this on all the bikes so that its a lot easier for the owner! [thumbsup] )
