Title: Casey to Honda!?
Post by: auntymal on May 11, 2010, 10:38:48 PM
Casey Stoner to Honda deal rumored
Done deal or Italian media fantasy?
By Motorcycle.Com Staff, May. 11, 2010Italian motorcycle media reports Casey Stoner has accepted an offer to race for Repsol Honda in the 2011 MotoGP season.
According to Italy’s Sportmediaset, Stoner, currently in the final year of his contract with Ducati Marlboro, will replace Dani Pedrosa who is also in the final year of his contract with Repsol Honda.
No official announcement has been made, and the European motorcycle racing press has been known to report signings that turned out to be untrue. Last August, Spanish site Motocuatro reported Lorenzo had reached an agreement with Ducati. Instead, Lorenzo later re-signed with Fiat Yamaha.

Casey Stoner may be the first domino to fall for the 2011 MotoGP rider signings.

If Stoner does sign with Repsol Honda, he would be reunited with former Ducati team manager Livio Suppo who is now responsible for raising sponsorships with Honda. Stoner’s departure would open a seat with Ducati Marlboro, which would be a dream come true to the Italian media. Indeed, the Sportmedia report goes to greater length about a possible Rossi-Ducati union than Stoner and Honda.

As much as I love Ducati - and having an Aussie on a Ducati in MotoGP I would still support Casey if he moved to Honda - who knows it could be the beginning of a Doohanesque career!

I will be torn - Ducati T-shirt with Honda pants at the Island??  [laugh]

Nothing wrong with supporting your favourite rider and favourite manufacturer/constructor. There is enough love in this world to go around.  [thumbsup]  ;D

There could be an ounce of credability to it, at least maybe pre-lim talks.
Suppo always rated Casey and made him feel like part of the family when he came to Ducati.
He might not be feeling like the family is present at Honda. It probably hasn't since Jeremy went to Yamaha with Vale.

Dani to Yamaha with Lorenzo
Casey to Honda with Dovisioso
Vale to Ducati with Hayden just for shits and giggles for a year to sell a billion special edition bikes
Jeremy to retire and go live on the GC with Doohan.

I'll pack the crystal ball away now.

yeah Jorge will stay at Yamaha and be #1 but the team will slowly degrade once Jeremy retires.
He'll try to win and will but the bike will be all over the place, good one race and Suzuki the next.
On a Suzuki note, they will return to Barry 70's and 80's glory and start winning again.

Once MotoGP goes back to 1000cc proddy based all the skin crayon boys will bring there Yoshi pipes to the track
when shorts singlets and thongs will rule......  [laugh] [laugh]

Jeremy wont go to the GC, he lives quite happily here in SA, in the Adelaide Hills *sigh*.   [moto]
Maybe he would open a little shop, servicing bikes........ [laugh]

Just another rumour to add to the mill:

http://www.asphaltandrubber.com/rumors/ducati-offers-rossi-15-million/ (http://www.asphaltandrubber.com/rumors/ducati-offers-rossi-15-million/)

I think it would piss Rossi off just a little that his salary cut would go to a pay rise for Jorge.
