Everytime I ride my M1100 I find a decent amount of small pebbles, sand, etc. on the seat when I dismount the bike.  The roads aren't great where I live, but I am by no means riding on dirt.  I wonder if it has something to do with the front fender design.  Very weird that it gets kicked up and comes to rest in my crotch!  Anyone else notice anything similar?

Tail chop? I started seeing that phenomenon a lot more after I did the tail chop.

I did chop my stock rear fender, but did not remove it completely.  I suppose that could be the culprit, but it would seem that the path from the rear tire to between by legs is too complex for this too be likely.  I chopped the tail before putting any real miles on the bike, so I don't really have the frame of reference, however.

I noticed the same thing on my 696 when I did my tail chop.

I get the same; don't know if it got worse after installing the DP short tail or not.  There is a negative pressure behind you when at highway speeds and the air is very turbulent behind the bike and you so it is very possible the debris can be coming from the rear.  I personally don't worry about it.  Living in SE Texas, I get a lot more bugs on the front of me and the bike.

MTom, you are talking about the debris off the front tire, aren't you?  The ass end of the 1100's front fender looks short, but no shorter then the carbon fender on my S2R.  Maybe a bellypan would deflect a trash away from your sac. 

I'm not sure where it's coming from, front or rear..........the only reason I thought it might be the front tire is as I was pushing my bike into the garage the other evening a pebble kicked up from the front tire.  I thought maybe the new monster fender shape may have something to do with it.  It's not a big deal, more of a curiosity, but it makes me wonder what it's doing to my paint  ???

i get that on my 696, after i did the tail chop, its rear. Also be carreful, rocks are startign to screw with my tail light.  [bang]

Happens to me every ride with CW tail. Part of mile of gravel road and mile of gravel driveway between my house and pavement.

It's from your back tire like others have said. I get the same thing on the Monstrada, which has a short tail that doesn't fully cover the rear tire. Too much stuff between your seat and the rear of the front tire (where it would fly off of it) for it to be from there.

Just hope you never have to ride on a muddy road.

I also get a good bit of grit, usually on the seat right behind me.  I didn't think much of it either, about half my driveway isn't paved.  Figured it was being slung off the tires once I made pavement.  FYI, I'm sporting an R&G tail tidy.
