I'm due for the 15k service and looking to getting the front and rear brake pads replace as well.  I was quoted that labor would be between 5.5 hours to 6.5 hours at $90/hour.  I was advise that they will also bleed  brake and clutch, oil change (which i was planning on doing myself since i already bought the oil and oil filter).  I've heard great things about the service department at this particular dealership which is about an hour away.  Price seems reasonable. plus it would be good to have official service records just in case i decide to sell it a couple of years down the road compare to having a mechanically inclined friend do it at his garage.  What do you guys think?

that sounds about right.  you don't want to do the oil before the service bc they will be doing the valves anyway during hte service before they change the oil. also they will probably clean the oil screen too.

and yes having the records and making sure they write down the adjustment values is helpful just so thta you see how much it changes over time, its not really necessary but fun to look at.

I think if you plan on selling the bike the more official records you have will help you in the sale and may help you get closer to what you want for the bike compared to an average comparable bike.

Changing the oil yourself will not save you a lot of money.  Just save the oil and filter for your next oil change.

thanks for the input guys.  i was planning on bringing the oil and filter with me but ill definitely just save it for my next oil change.    i figure it wouldn't be a fun experience carrying a gallon of oil in my backpack especially since the place is about over an hour away.  Thanks again!
