A day or two ago, I visited art.com to look at what Picasso prints were available.
I'm not remotely interested in having any Picasso prints, I was just looking for reference.
Now, when I visit crash.net, there's a banner ad from art.com showing all sorts of Picasso prints for sale. >:(
The first time it happened, I thought it may have just been an odd coincidence, but wasn't completely convinced.
Now it's happened again.
The 'service' is run by Criteo.com.
Before I push any buttons on their page that (allegedly) will get that crap off my screen, is there any way I can banish it from my end?
If I were being subjected to targeted advertising for something I was interested in, I'd be a lot less annoyed.
If you are using Mozilla Firefox as a web browser try Tools/Clear Recent History.
If not, you should be.
Tools/options/privacy/clear cookies in firefox.
If you remove any cookies from Criteo it should stop.

I have my FF set up for private browsing and it never saves anything but passwords.
No issues with ads or other junk.
Furthermore my virus and adware scans haven't found a SINGLE item since I set the browser like that.

Be careful with those saved passwords. Firefox > Preferences > Security > Saved Passwords > Show Passwords
FYI
.
Ive noticed Facebook is real bad with this (actually I dont think "bad" is the right word...I really dont pay attention to adds) But anything you have on your profile, interests, music etc, will trigger certain adds. For instance, since I have "blah blah blah motorcycle" on my interests, I get adds telling me that carhart double fronted pants are the best value riding pant...because I couldnt figure that out without them telling me. I also get a lot of Ducati Course adds...which I dont mind so much...come to think of it...im looking at a banner add with a 1098 as I type this....hmmm...Oh, and DucatiSeattle is another popular one, although thats a little bit of a hike from New Hampshire...
I had tried clearing the cookies, but neglected to notice the 'time range'.
So clearing the last hour's worth of cookies didn't help. :P
Going back and clearing 'Everything' did the job.
Indeed, Corse ads would be alright.
Just not Picasso. [puke]
(No offense intended to Picasso fans, just not my cup of tea)
If you use Firefox, install Ad Blocker Plus plug-in.
No more banner ads.
And you can even turn it off for certain web-sites (like the DMF)
+1 on Firefox and AD Blocker plus plug-in. [thumbsup] [thumbsup] [thumbsup]
highly effective.....
Yeah, FireFox is nice. :)

Oh Penny Arcade, how you make me laugh.
HAHAHAHA!
Another note on browser preference...Im currently at my parents house on my dads BRAND SPANKIN NEW computer (litterally unboxed and turned it on about 3 hours ago) I recomended he get firefox...to which he outright refused...he doesnt want to have to re learn how to use it...of course he went from XP to windows 7 and office 03 to Office 07...but I guess hes got a valid point that making the switch to a better browser would be too much work...
