Not sure what retail is, but more than I can afford.
Long story short he claims it "caught on fire" whatever that means and needs a new nob that was melted, a new wheel and said the gas hoses were burned.
He had it converted over to run of a NG Line instead of a LP tank.
so I already know I have to replace the hosing to work with my current system.
So the question.............
I am going to fix it up to working condition but........
sell it on craigslist or keep it???
the only problem is my current weber spirit was a birthday present from my wife the first year she moved in with me, so it is special as she saved up a lot to buy it because she had a low paying job, so it is special to me. I think I'll only keep this Vermont Grill is if I can get my cousin to take my weber. He has this old POS and I want to keep the Weber in the family..........I am weird about stuff like that.
Keep it!
That VC grill is a lifetime purchase. (that you didn't have to buy)
Just fix it whenever it needs fixin' and you will never need another.

my dad has two grills; one similar to your VC, and an old pea-green charcoal grill received as a wedding present before i was born.
he'll likely keep the latter until it rusts away... ;D
I am leaning that way, but I hear they just smoke your propane bottles like nothing.
I realize you can control the burner flow by not turning them on, but have heard even running 1 or 2 can kill a tank.
I just need to find a place to store this beast

My house.
;D
I currently have 3 grills on my patio. Weber Kettle, Weber Gas (Gift from Father in Law) and a Big Green Egg which I traded for a burnt up DCS grill I had in the garage for 2 years.....
Each serves a different purpose so Im keeping them!
(repeating what I've heard from people in the biz)
"Vermont Casting at one time, a long time ago, made great products. The products have changed and lack the reliability they once had. For the money I would buy something else."
I would take it for free and keep the Weber. :)
I'd love to keep both, but don't have the space.
My parents have a VC and that thing is rock solid.
One of the perks of going home is grilling on it
