Title: OE DSS Wheel Alternatives
Post by: Düb Lüv on May 15, 2010, 10:41:22 AM
i've been considering buying some wheels, but really don't want to buy a aftermarket set. if the GF found out my head would be on a stick. i know there's a lot of members feeling the same way.

i don't know the complete list of DSS bike, but what other options are there?

i also like the 5 spoke ST wheels, but seem harder to find and don't know anything about them
i like the 999 wheels, but they have 5 bolt rotors instead of 6 bolt and different rear rotor
i know this is off Ducati subject, but i really like honda CBR 600 F3 wheels. i've only seem 1 person put them on a monster.

aftermarket wheels are probably the only alternative. since majority of the members are still rocking 3 spoke, but thought i'd ask still.

get 2006 R6 wheels and axles. make life easy.  they are 5 spoke and sexy looking. rotors are cheap for them too.

Not so easy, quite alot maching & fabricating.
But can be done, I have them on mine.  8)

but your using stock forks with older axle.

he already has R6 forks. with the wheels, all you need is the axle and spacers if needed to align the wheel. If the R6 fork spacing is larger than the monster, then your axle might be to short and you can do either machine a new one, or extend it.

what i'm worried about would be the wheel hub width and the offset of the r6 rotors.

A bit to do to fit rear wheel...

Front wheel I agree would fit fine w R6 wheel, discs & axle, of course.

aha! yes rear wheel would be a pita.

front wheel is no issue if the width isnt greater than the r6 OEM axle
