Title: I am getting old Post by: ducatiz on May 15, 2010, 04:46:08 PM I got a letter from GEICO
My motorcycle insurance went from 660/year to 480/year. You might think this is a lot. But that is full coverage for 4 bikes. I have other bikes, but not covered for various reasons. I put only about 8k miles on my bikes last year. They dropped my insurance. it's my age. I know it. Title: Re: I am getting old Post by: Fergus on May 15, 2010, 05:15:40 PM I keep getting older too, dammit! Unfortunately the insurance company hasn't offered to take less of my money yet.
Title: Re: I am getting old Post by: ducatiz on May 15, 2010, 05:19:01 PM I have like 3 discounts:
Multi vehicle Home insurance American Mensa oh, and they also throw in a 5% off for using Bank of America for the auto payments. Statistically we apprentice geezers are not helping the actuarial stats that feed the rate tables When we go down on the road.. we often drag in secondary complications and conditions like heart attacks etc etc that make the simple "set the bones and sew him up" a lot more expensive than for an immortal 20 year old we also are having more accidents as an age group....our eyes and reflexes are simply not what they were but we tend to ride by memory of what we once WERE capable of...not what we currently ARE capable of getting old sucks...the stats prove it Title: Re: I am getting old Post by: Howie on May 16, 2010, 12:12:48 AM I am 58 and pay 384 for 1 900 Monster. Smart people crash less? :o I doubt it. I know alot of very clever people at work who have absolutely no common sense whatsoever. I shudder to think what they'd be like on a bike/ Smooshed by big trucks probably whats that phrase? I can't go to work in a suit and can't go to court with a bunch of briefs on a bike.. :-/ Title: Re: I am getting old Post by: the_Journeyman on May 16, 2010, 03:10:21 AM I pay $300/year with GEICO. Which would be interesting if they ever have to fix my 600ss considering they were never sold here. I am sure they would total it, but how would they value it? We used to pass around PEZ dispensers with vicodins in them where I used to work. They are a little bit long. If you trim off what doesn't fit, and eat the pieces that are trimmed off, you get a pretty good buzz. Title: Re: I am getting old Post by: muskrat on May 16, 2010, 06:52:19 PM 37 is my age and I pay $695 for three bikes with 100/300/100 and a $500 deductable. Title: Re: I am getting old Post by: ian48th on May 16, 2010, 07:19:23 PM Arg, I miss living in the States when the topic of insurance comes up. I moved to British Columbia seven years ago and the insurance rates here are like highway robbery. :(
