Title: Ducati Performance luggage fitment
Post by: ian48th on May 16, 2010, 08:58:56 PM
Anyone know if the Ducati Performance hard bag setup that fits a 2004 S2R would also fit a 2000 M900?  I see a local bike with luggage for sale and wonder, if the luggage might be sold separately, if it would fit my own wonderful bike.

It probably would - but it would look odd. And bags made for an S*R monster will be designed to accommodate the exhaust of those bikes.

I should have mentioned that the pic in the ad shows low-mount exhausts, like on my 2000 M900:

Would the mount points be the same?

This is the DP setup made by Nonfango, now defunct.  You might find some or all on fleabay; searching on Nonfango can turn up some leftovers in Italy.  There are two top cases there now from Canada, both with rack for earlier Monsters.  I confess to having the top case on my bike; it's ugly, but tremendously functional for a daily commute.  You can't see it when you're riding.

Umm... the bike in that picture is not an S2R.  it has a dual side swingarm.

My bad.  Looks like 2002 - 2004 there's the Monster 800, then 2005 - 2008 is the S2R.  So it's an '04 800.

A 2000 Monster is an 888 frame and a 2004 Monster is an ST frame. It's possible the luggage will fit but my limited searching for panniers for my '01 Monster has shown that the frame difference is definitely a factor in selection.

Just my two cents.

Good to know - thanks!
