The Sprint GT uses the frame of the existing Sprint ST, but just about every other significant aspect of the machine is new. More upright and comfortable, the Sprint GT appears to offer better wind protection, much better headlights, standard 31 litre panniers and ABS brakes. An optional top box can hold two full-size helmets and includes a 12 volt power supply to charge your mobile electronics while riding.

Looks nice! [thumbsup] I would love to add a sport touring bike to the stable someday, though I think it'll be a VFR.
the headlighrts on the sprint ST are great as it is
and i can get a decent siuzed top case too. to me the bags look a lot lower and the foot position is further forward.
yeah wish Ducati made this bike. i know the new multi is the business for Ducati, but if all that tech was wrapped in a sexy ST replacement!!!

WHAT?????You have to be out of your MIND to think that. The headlights on the spring are projector style with a VERY sharp cut-off line. Its nice and bright below the line, but PITCH BLACK above. This is all fine and well going straight, but have you ever taken your bike on a dark, twisty back road at night?
The lean angle puts the cut off down on the ground infront of you. The result is you can only see the ground for about 15 feet in front of your tire. Everything beyond that on the inside side of the corner is BLACK
The W O R S T headlights of any production bike EVER. I hate them. its the only thing about my sprint I dont like.

ok, you're right. i fixed mine though
try the lights on the ST2
How'd you fix them? I cant figure anything except additional lights mounted to the forks.
firsdt off, raise them.
secondly, you should be able to get the part that cuts the light off out.

...of course, blinding oncoming traffic might not be in your best interest.

that's why i just raised mine
i would love to reshape the cutoff piece
I have a 2008 Sprint ST, the lights are fine. They updated the cut off I think in 2008, before that they were meant to be pretty bad. I also have a 2009 Daytona, the cut off is ridiculous and the "high" beam is more like extra light on the low beam, it's pathetic and almost to the point that I don't really like riding it at night. I've been considering opening the light and changing the cut off because it's actually bordering on dangerous. I've already adjusted it as high as it goes.
now that i live in Colorado, i almost wish i had a sport touring bike for the wife and I. I am a vvery adventurous person. I would jump at the chance to own one. Riding two up on the 696 is a drag, and I haven't even tried going into the mt's yet.
Plus, that price! $13,000 ?? wow, wayyyyy better than the Multi's $20K tag
especially if i trade in a monster... did i say that?

make the sprint an addition, not a replacement.
that way you have the monster for solo rides, and you have the sprint for taking passengers or for long rides that require luggage.

No, slightly better than the Multi's $14K price tag. The non-S models are much less, but don't have the fancy electronic suspension. That makes them more similar to the Sprint.

I was thinking the samething, except no ABS unless you upgrade it.
to match the sprint though you would need to add the ABS and the bags. probably more than 2k to the MTS price
I like Triumphs, but this doesn't seem to be much of an improvement over my Bandit which was $6000 less. (Well, $5000 less if you count my Krauser luggage -- which has >32 L more capacity).
The new MTS is $16,500 with ABS. Expect bags to run about $1K if they are similar in price to the old MTS bags.
The base MTS is also $15K, not $14K.
The Sprint is significantly cheaper. Not sure if it's better though.

of course it's better!
i have a sprint [cheeky]
actually, i have gone through 2 services on the sprint and they were far cheaper than the basic service prices i got for the monster. parts are just as expensive though.

Is that the 1050 motor? Is it true that the cams must come out to do the valve adjustments? That can't be right, but my buddy said he read that in the service manual for his '03 (955) Speed Triple.

yes it's the 1050 (it's an '08)
they dont' ahve to remove the cams that i know of, but they do have a lot to go through to get to the valves. iirc it's listed as a 2 hr job just to get to the valves because of all the stuff that's in the way.

$849 for bags, which are 71% larger in volume than the teensy Sprint ones.
That's still not $20,000.
I'm not sure what the newer sprints are like, but if it's anything like my old 2001 sprint RS I sold, I would buy a used multistrada (not the new 1200) and get the better handling and suspension and still have a few $$$ in my pocket.
The 955 or the 1050 triumph motors are fantastic, but the top heavyness makes the bikes feel far heavier than their weight, and the suspension is less than inspiring in the twisties.
perhaps the newer sprint GT has been upgraded or improved in this regard....... i dunno.
i had a sprint st. it was definitely more sport than touring. the gt looks more touring than sport. a big complaint with all sprint riders that had the panniers was the fact that you couldn't fit much in them, so it's cool they seem to have fixed that. it looks like this bike will compete better witth the true sport tourers, but i loved the sportiness of the ST. i will admit a cross country ride on an ST wouldn't be comfortable. it looks like the GT would be ok on long trips.
