Well, my speedo cable has once again broken.
So I need a replacement.
I remember on TOB there was a thread about a generic one that you could cut down and fit to the bike.
That is what I did last time, but since I can't get on that board, does anyone recall where to order it from?
I want to say I bought from aj-usa.com
thoughts?
figured it might be nice to get a thread on this board so when someone searches they have a source for a cheap replacement.

It reflects poorly on me, but I'm still a member in good standing at TOB.  But I never go there unless for a specific mission like this one.  I searched and found a lot of speedo cable threads.  Motion Pro evidently makes a generic speedo cable that was available from JC Whitney, although the link in the thread just took me to the JC Whitney home page and not to the part in question.  Rather than JC Whitney I'd suggest that Ca Cycleworks or many other sponsors are Motion Pro dealers and could send you the cable.

You can buy a universal inner cable at any auto parts store.
Make sure the cable is wound the same way as the old one.
They make different cables for left and right rotations

the universal cable is what I bought before and thank you Langan for JC Whitney, that was the website!!! (I bought my K&N Pod Filters from AJ-USA.com)
Thanks Nate, I was wondering if I could get one at an autoparts store, but in my stupid ritzy community, none exist and I am not joking. Do you happen to know the direction of the Monster one? I am sure your speedo cable on your 1996 is the same as my 1999.
I didn't want to go driving all over the place to come up empty as usual when looking for odd parts.
Thanks all. Hopefully this thread will be of help to others in the future.
NOTE: I think it broke this time due to me removing the bike from the front stand. I kept ripping it out and well, this time it snapped. make the beast with two backsing poor design or bad users. I vote bad user skills.

I don't have a stock speedo or even a cable driven speedo any longer. If you take one of the pieces to the store just match it.

What is your current set up then?
Is there a way for me to eliminate that cord and go with more of a set up like yours?
