Title: 696 problems
Post by: hadesducati848 on May 20, 2010, 01:35:14 PM
ok so my GFs 696 is less then 7 months old, and all the sudden it has  no horn, signal lights, or brake lights. i took it into the dealer and was told i need a new "left switch" so now i am waiting for them to order the parts. if the wait is anything like the parts for my 848 i wont be holding my breath till it gets here. i was wondering if anyone else has had a problem like this and if there are any temp fixes i can do till the new part comes in. this bike is my daily ride to work till the 848 is done and i dont like the idea of no signal or brake lights. and  since my 848 is still waiting for its parts to come in for the last  2 months i have no idea how long this switch might take. so any idea will be greatly appriciated. thanks

You sure it's not a fuse.

Those are almost the same symptoms the older monsters have when they blow a fuse (10A).

Fuses are in a small rectangular box on the right side of the bike.

I don't have a 696 wiring diagram in front of me, but I'm suspicious about the possibility of the left switch killing your brake lights.
Perhaps it's fuxxored and is blowing the fuse, but IMO the switch couldn't effect the brake lights.

Check fuses first, they're really cheap and easy!
