Now my monster sounds like a real duck (S2R 800).
So verdict? If you're on the cheap, use an open udder it is very similar to the ex box except it is a bit louder and throatier and QUITE a bit louder if you use the baffle in the ex box.
However if you've got the cash i'd recommend one, it sounds sooooooooooo much better than any youtube video i could find and i am very happy with it. Also it could just be the placebo effect BUT the bike does seem a bit more flickable and could be attributed to lowering the COG or again could just be a placebo effect.
It's a recommended upgrade if you like the look, personally i like it better than boom tubes but thats just me :)
---------------------------------
Installation? Easy as pie with 2 exceptions:
1) the right hand nut for the vertical cylinder = PITA
2) For some reason the spring for the pipe that comes out of the box and connects to the up to the horizontal cylinder is a bit too long and when connected it isn't "stretched." I'm going to have to source a shorter exhaust spring.
Any questions, just ask. Took me and a buddy about 2.5hrs and we are both sick and took numerous water breaks in the 90* chicago heat today.
Congrats! I love the look of those and wanted one...didn't have that much cash....nice mod!
billy i agree....id never pay the 1200 they want for it. it just isnt worth it imo. but motowheels had a phenominal sale @ 800 shipped for my unit. thats a bit better i think for what u r getting.

The sounds will deepen as bit after a few thousand miles. I don't know if it is the heat/cool cycle or the carbon deposit, but mine sounds even batter now that it is a year old!

its probably from some of the baffleing burning out. happens with all mufflers.

Even batter? Isn't that what you use to make level pancakes?
To make the exbox louder, it has to be opened up to remove baffles correct? Not just a simple operation right?

The ExBox has a removable baffle that can be removed by removing a couple of screws.

That's not they way mine was put together. The top was riveted on, and the insides looked like this:

...no screws and no easily removable baffle.
I really liked my Ex-Box, but the inside construction spot welds gave way (easy fix), and the mounting bracket does not allow for fitment of grommets, and eventually the bracket will crack (mine did).
it isn't that it has a "baffle" perse; they simply have the option of bolting up one of the outlets of the ex-box. So instead of the exhaust coming out of both outlets it comes out only one which would quiet it down and probably also increase the backpressure a bit. i can take a photo tomorrow and post it up
Thanks, a photo would be great. I wouldn't mind being a little more noisy.

Jim's description is right. My earlier comment about baffles being removable should probably have referred to it as a plug.
