Sounds pretty cool. 

First thing I thought of though was "1 million pounds of soil" I wonder if the roof is strong enough to hold it?

It does sound cool, but hopefully someone is checking that.

Roofs in NY are certainly designed for snow loading. This may be beyond that...or if it isn't, there could be a problem when the snow actually does arrive and the actual load is much more than for what the roof was originally designed.

Yeah but it's one million pounds of lightweight topsoil...


... so it's not as heavy.
