I've had a strange issue with my '99 M600 in the past week, for some reason (most times) the starter button won't start the bike unless the handlebars are turned all the way to the right.
Has anyone encountered this before? I've tried fiddling with the cabling on the handlebars but it doesn't seem to do anything.
It's as if the kill-switch were activated any time the handlebars aren't turned to the right, nothing whatsoever happens when I press the starter button.
Any help would be much appreciated.
You have a broken wire in the harness near where the kill switch plugs in.
Trace the wires from the kill switch to the steering neck and start cutting the tape.
Wait before you start cutting stuff, once your bike is on does it die when you turn your handlebar to the left? If it doesn't then try this. I used to have a similar problem, and it turned out the plug near the engine for the RH swtich was loose. I would disconnect that then reconnect and see. Might not do anything, but a good start.
